15-17* driving irons? and help sorting bag

posting numbers tomorrow. Still waiting on it to dry, I had to pull and remove a tip weight and put in a bit of counter weight cause swing weight was d8. Now it should be around d5, same as irons.

I bought a TM M3 3 iron. Stock 18 degrees. I moved it 2 flat and 1 strong and put a 2 iron length DG X100 in it.

The thing is a monster. Im a 112-113 SS and I get 270 out of it in average conditions. Can hit it high or low, and being the M3, there is definitely a fair bit of forgiveness.

I have a similar setup with an M2 Tour iron, same thing. Big distance, solid forgiveness. Definitely a sleeper.

Is there a significant head weight difference between those and the 790 udi? I tried putting an x7 in it, ended up Making swing-weight d8, so tried a counter weight, and now the whole thing is way too heavy to activate.

Not that I am aware of, no. What length you you have the P790 playing at? That is not surprising that you had that result with counterweighting, it is the same thing I found when trying to "lighten" a driving iron with a 130g+ shaft that was too heavy. In the end, more weight is more weight and adding weight in attempt to make the club lighter doesn't work, regardless of what the swingweight scale tells you.

prob too long, didn’t measure, to answer your question. Got it used and thought I’d save the grip and try it out. I don’t think it was long enough to affect it to that degree, but maybe cause d8 doesn’t make sense.

Definitely measure it, because you're right in that D8 is far too high assuming you're using a fairly standard grip. I wouldn't be surprised it it was +3/4" to +1" over length. D8 with a 130g shaft would be unplayable for most people.

Another vote the for Srixon ZU85. It looks really clean and despite the larger sole (akin to the Titleist u510), it really is so easy to hit and looks clean from address. Less offset than the u500, which I tried with an EV 100x and did not really care for. The u85 is great, picked one up on here with a DG x100 120g and it feels amazing. For reference, I play c-taper 130xs and 70g x driver shaft with a 113 driver SS. If you can, give it a try (in whichever loft you feel will fit the gapping the best).

It was a bit long for sure.

the 790 udi with fuji 115 pro graphite, tipped it 1.25 inches.. . Wow. I have not broken 275 yet, but I’ll get there. Low bullets when I want it.

gonna be hard to get a fairway wood back in the bag.

I tried the u510 1 iron as an off the tee weapon and i hated it, older Fourteen Driving irons are amazing and the Srixon u's don't fall far behind

i sold the 2 just cause a buddy wanted it.

put the 3 iron at 19 into x7, sw was D4. Perfect. Bent to 17. 280 easy! LowIsh peak height, so nice. Bent to 16 today, should be 290 and even lower. In love with it.

Nice! The COVID-19 lockdown has put the kibosh on any testing for now. I am waiting on an international shipment as well that has not arrived, will likely take awhile.
