Father Time is still the undisputed champion of the world....TW will still have flashes of brilliance, but there are going to be more days when he tries to give it some extra zip and the engine just wont respond on demand anymore...Think of it this way, TW needs 265-275 good shots to win a tournament let alone a major. How many practice shots are needed to produce that many good shots on any given week..I dont think his body will allow him to put in the kind of work he needs to win unless all the stars align in his favor

Very well said, as if 3 tournament victories, one of which is a major, is "stars aligning" after back fusion. I guarantee almost anyone on tour would take his current win-per-event-played ratio. If that's stars aligning, what chance do the rest of the non-winners from 2019 have?!?!?!?

Not hugely surprising to see that TW is not playing. Seems like there is a decent chance of it being cold and windy at least part of the week at the API and those type of conditions just don’t suit him.

Finally a voice of reason in the wilderness. We do not know the extent or damage already done to his back.. or the rest of his body. And I will guarantee that he does not want to get into the pain killer merry go round again. Like you said he has earned the right to play any schedule he wants to and he certainly has the right to try to live a pain free everyday life

I agree that he has earned the right to do pretty much whatever he wants. However, I'm sure the Tour expected that he would play both the API and the Memorial after they bumped his Genesis event at Riviera up to the same level of significance.

This is the thing i dont get... if hes hurt or not feeling 100% it doesnt matter what the tour expected. its a great event at a great venue. Tiger has made the tour plenty of money and vice versa. I cant stress enough he doesnt owe any event or the tour anything. this version of tiger has been the most honest. Hes trying to rest more in between events and is pretty open about being sore or tired. He literally said he feels weak and light and needs to put on weight the rest of the year. he never and i mean never used to say anything like this 10-12 years ago. We dont know how long he plans on playing. maybe he figures he plays 12-15 events a year for the next 4-5 years to give him the best chance to compete and avoid more injury. If he came out tomorrow and said he plans on only playing the 4 majors and 4-5 exclusive events per year id say great. Were not in his skin. I feel like were getting greedy at this point. lets see how it turns up. If he shows up at augusta re energized/rested and competes then we know this was the right path. For me if he never wins again or never wins another major his comeback has been complete and admirable. For me this is all a bonus. Again just my opinion, id love to see him play more and win but im super patient and super happy with his last 2.5-3 years. i wish him nothing but luck and health moving forward.
