What is it about your golf buds that makes for a good round of golf?

My friends are married with kids like me. So what makes it a good round is when we take advantage of the 4-5 hours to talk about real stuff. Also, we’re both hard-working responsible guys, so a little whiskey and cigar makes it a fun break. The third item, in order, is when we’re both playing well enough to enjoy the golf.

Main group has been together since high school, we are now 60ish. Some are now at clubs (different ones) but we manage to get together a few times a year and those few are always my favourite rounds of the year, just to get out with good buddies. Scores don’t matter. I run a weekend trip for the gang and can’t help but notice that most of the handicaps now have a 1 before the number our caps used to be.

For me it's simple: pace of play, ability to laugh at bad shots, and a little trash talk. i don't gamble and am far from a good golfer, so i want to make sure i'm at least keeping up. I also appreciate if they notice something in my swing that is just blatantly wrong, that they give me the heads up so i can at least be aware of it. Mind you, these are friends. If i don't know you, then it's different and shaddup! lol

Gambling! Well and on a guys golf trip drinking and laughing plus gambling. My normal group I dont drink much when playing. 1 or 2 beers usually.
