Heading to Pinehurst next month with six thirty-somethings and looking for advice on best places to eat and drink?

I have a place at Talamore, and have been in that area a couple times every year for about 13 years. Here are a few of my favorites,

Pinehurst Brewing https://www.pinehurstbrewing.com/home Beer and barbecue

Maxie's https://www.maxies.net/ Sports pub, normal bar food, good beer selection

Ironwood Cafe https://www.ironwoodpinehurst.com/ More upscale, still casual

Full Moon Oyster Bar http://www.fullmoonoysterbar.com/locations.cfm?location=3 New, all bar seating, good enthusiastic service, good seafood (that's all we've tried)

Pinehurst Brewing Co (Downtown) (Food and Drink)

Pinehurst Resort - post round drink at The Duece watching folks finish on 18th of #2 (must do - also get picture at Payne Stewart statue)

Pine Needles Lodge Bar (Best if you just played Pine Needles)

Otherwise - Bunch of Chain Restaurants/Sports Bar in town that are as you would expect (on 15/501 or Rt 1) - Some decent local inexpensive Mexican

Higher End Local restaurants are OK - nothing on the must do list...

Dinner at Ashton's

Lunch at the Villager.

Agree, drinks at the Piunecrest are a must. And if you want to watch golfers finish their round, the best vantage point is the terrace at MidPines. The Deuce is a great spot, just not high enough to get a really good view. OF course, nobody is going to drive anywhere just to watch golfers finish their round.

As I was reading this thread, an email from Pinehurst popped into my inbox entitled, "Your Guide to the Ultimate Golf Buddy Trip." I miss feeling wealthy enough to go to Pinehurst. One of the downsides of retirement is that some of the little luxuries of life start slipping away. I used to like attending the Academy in the spring. Five days hanging around the resort and talking trash with other students, eating too much, drinking over-priced scotch, soaking in the hot tub...nice life. But, it got just a little too expensive and started feeling over-indulgent. I guess I got old.

Full Moon Oyster Bar...Staff was excellent and the oysters top-shelf.

My wife and I will be in town this coming Saturday night (for a week). This list is just what we needed, thanks. Also will be in town for St Patty's day. Not big drinkers, but looking for some Irish food maybe. I know there are two Irish pubs in town, is one any better than the other?

Well the Location and Atmosphere at Dugans Pub downtown Pinehurst is way better than the place on RT 1....Also the Drum and Quill in Downtown Pinehurst has a nice Pub feel and decent food and sometimes they even get the service right....

When my wife and I first went to Chef Warrens, we got lucky enough to sit at the chef's bar, about 6 stools where you can watch the food being cooked. If the two of you can reserve a spot there, I'd highly recommend it. For an Irish pub, or some facsimile, probably the best is Dugan's, as @allparz suggests. The DQ (Drum and Quill) styles itself as more Scottish, but its similar feeling, although much smaller and a bit cramped-feeling at times. Squires Pub on Route 1 is fine, nothing special, a large restaurant with a small bar. There's also O'Donnell's in downtown Southern Pines, just a bar, but maybe the best chance for live music and a rowdy evening in town.
