Club Champion. Not only is it cheaper, but for me the experience was much better. There are a lot of reviews floating around, just search the forums. I find it most useful to go in with a plan of what you’re looking for. Distance, accuracy, etc.

I’ve used Cool Clubs and I am thrilled with the results. I will confirm it is expensive, but since the build they did for me I’ve stayed with the same clubs for a few years now so in that regard it will save you money if you’re the type that goes through a lot of clubs each year. I have no experience with Club Champion but by all accounts on WRX they are good also.

Thanks, did you do à full bag fitting? Kind of personal but how much?

The cost of the fittings themselves are reasonable, but are not credited towards your purchase. What they do that is expensive is they charge you full retail plus the full cost of any shaft upgrade. In my case, I was charged $500 for an Epic SZ head, $300 for a GD AD shaft and $8 for a Pure grip. Throw in $125 for the fitting and tax and shipping and you have $1000 for a driver. I will say that they fit and build to the same quality as any tour dept. does for the guys on tv. The precision and attention to detail is unsurpassed. I can say without a doubt it’s the best driver I have ever played. If this level of quality is important to you and you’re likely to stick with it for 2-3 years then it’s actually less expensive than buying a new driver each year. You have to determine if it is worth it to you. I play for considerable sums of money when I play, so the confidence it gives me is worth it to me.

Iron fitting was different. After testing, we decided to keep my heads and just reshaft with Steelfibers. They charged $175 for the iron fitting plus $100 per shaft and $8 per grip. Tax and shipping and you have another $1100 plus the money I spent when I bought the irons.

Because I had the “recipe” from these 2 fittings, I was able to order a 3wood on my own directly from Callaway and have it fit into my specs. I kept my wedges and putter the same, as I had no issues with either.

Altogether I now have about $3000 give or take in my bag. I have confidence with every club now and won’t change anything for the foreseeable future.Hope this helps.

I’ve done both. I had a much better experience with Club Champion.

Part of it was the fitter I had at Club Champion - he seemed more knowledgeable and wasn’t trying as hard to push high cost shafts as the couple of guys I’ve worked with at Cool Clubs. Part of it was I thought the the methodology and available options at CC were better.

Appreciate the feed back.

I have been to Club champion a few times here in the Chicago area. Decent but never pulled the trigger in terms of buying the heads and shafts.

I might go check out the cool clubs facility in the area and give them a chance. I just need to fully embrace the fitting and trust it. I play well over 40 rounds a year this year I did 60 so i believe it will be worth it.

The good news golf season does not start till April 1st so I have time to wait for all the new releases to come out.

I was always fitted into the steelfiber iron shafts and fuji pro driver, 3 wood and hybrid shafts = The most expensive

Cool Clubs will always give you options in different price ranges. They will base it on the performance numbers and the fitter’s expertise. I decided with my driver fitting to go with exactly what was recommended as the ultimate fit. With my irons, I decided to keep the heads but go with what was deemed the best shaft fit. Everyone has a different budget. I was fortunate to be able to afford the exact recommendations and my game has never been better.

If you are not a single digit handicap, spend the money on lessons and practice. Custom fit clubs will never make you a better golfer unless you already have a good repeatable swing.
