Because he's still well into his 20s and has 3 majors and I believe 11 tour wins. This sport makes stars of guys like Fleetwood and FInau who've never won in the US and Fowler who wins less than every other year. Spieth could never win again ( and he may not) and will end up with more career wins than all of these three high level players.

I hope he comes back but right now I'm starting to worry about a Duval like situation. But he's going to be talked about for a long time because of the greatness he already achieved.

Greatness is really stretching it. He had a good run, they thought he was the chosen one, companies gambled and he turn out to be a fluke.

He's going thru a transitional period (swing change - marriage - health recovery and who knows what else), but he has the talent and has won big time. He's young enough to overcome most of what has transpired, health being the ????. I don't think he's finished just yet, but that health question may very well be the biggest underlining factor as to what transpires in the future. Hopefully he'll find his way back...........

anyway, i just saw the Hal Sutton documentary and there are some Spieth parallels. he is young enough to bounce back and win a few more majors.....that devastating failure at Augusta has taken its toll

I disagree. Three majors and double digit wins by your mid 20s is greatness period.

The Augusta meltdown I'd buy into more if not for Birkdale. Especially after recovering from a near meltdown there.

 

I'm not as familiar with Sutton's situation. His early run was when I was really young although I do remember his late comeback highlighted by his Players win vs. Tiger. Golf's littered with greats who've lost it to some extent. Most don't come back; I hope Spieth does.

you also have to remember, Spieth won a major because DJ 3 putted from 10 feet and he also had that Carnoustie choke. Spieth had that 3 shot lead at chambers bay on hole 17 and He took double bogey. i still feel bad for DJ missing that playoff

Jordan will win again. He's adjusting to swing changes that he may keep or may have to give up on. TONS of great players have been through this that's why guys usually have a slow period in their 30's - they lose distance and go chasing it and lose consistency. You'll see him popping up on leaderboards again. His putting and short game alone are world class. All he needs is a hot week with the driver

Spieth may or may not have been overhyped a little but one major win is a fluke(and I'm not even sure I think that's true) but three is not. His peak might have only lasted a couple of years but it wasn't a fluke.

Absolutely, lack of decisive action and just "working on swing" with the same coach after wasting that whole year. Even Tiger decided to pull the plug on Foley after hyping him up so much. When results failed to materialize Tiger didn't hesitate to make a move.

To be fair the implication is that DJ lost it with the 3 putt. He needed birdie to get to a playoff and made par. Despite the double by Spieth on 17 he still finished with a 1 shot lead.

in your case, you are not critiquing any POINT. The facts are what they are......if you have an issue with how those tournaments played out, that's on you. You took a shot just to be critical without anything else to back it up. No counterpoint, no facts, nothing....you just wanted to take a shot.........ill refrain from any other back and forth regarding your "critiques"

They count the same as Tiger wins by 18. Discussing ifs and buts in a context of golf is utterly unproductive.
