Is anyone gaming the T22?

Digging the T22 newport. Great feel and rolls beautifully. Playing my best golf of the year with it. Used some ketchup to rub off the patina, which worked like a charm. But I've since let it patina, which also looks great. Plan on gaming this guy for a looooong time.

Gaming the NP2 version and loving it. Just need to dial in the weights now. T22 insert feels good but missing that old school pop my sole stamp provides. Excited to add this to the rotation.

I've been gaming my Newport II that I had chopped down to 32.5" and have really been enjoying it. Mine has developed a nice "patina" on the insert as well. I imagine this is mostly from rolling putts on the dewy practice green prior to my round and not really cleaning the face after each stroke and not putting with clean balls.

Planning to strip the paint fill on mine today, can anyone comment if citristrip is safe for the finish? And how long are you all letting it sit on the paint fill? The paint stripper pictured earlier wasn’t available at my local Home Depot.

I also tried the ketchup trick and it did work. My only concern was the fact you could then see any minute scratches or dings from lots of putting practice. So I’ve since let it patina again.

Unfortunately not as I tried this a few months back after high draws suggested it and I’ve since let it patina back up again as I prefer that look. Just rubbed a small amount on the face, left it five minutes then rubbed it off and it cleared the patina right off.

Make sure you're using mask, gloves and in an open ventilated area. That stuff contains methylene chloride which is long known to cause cancer. We use it in our industrial workplace, so was a little shocked to see you used it and wanted to make sure you're doing it safely.

Just bringing this up again because I bought a fastback off a member here.

I’m wanting to take the sight line from white to just match the black finish. Would just some acetone on a q-tip remove the white paint and leave it black in the line?

Acetone works, but it can take some time.

I used to use acetone, but have really moved to citri strip

really has made the process easier for me

plus with these putters with elastomer around the insert, I wouldn't dunk that in acetone.  It would prob take forever if ya used a q tip dipped in acetone to get this new paint out.  It's pretty tough.

Good call.  I wouldn't trust the white membrane holding up to soaking in acetone for a long time.
As far as people using ketchup to clean the face insert, that's nasty, and it stinks!  Just use a little toothpaste and it will shine it right up and won't smell too bad either. 😉

Thanks all, I’m going to go with citri strip on the sight line.  How long do you leave it on there? An hour or so?

 

Is my assumption correct it should just be the black finish underneath?
