Scotland - June 2020 Trip Itinerary Advice?

Yep I saw the same thing at Crail, I think it was 300 pounds for a membership if you lived overseas. But considering how cheap it was to actually play there - it did not necessarily make sense for us.

Pretty sure this was at Royal Dornach (but maybe it was Royal Aberdeen), but on the wall near the bar is a plaque for a guy who played 11 rounds in the same day.

Definitely not Royal Aberdeen.

On June 22nd a couple years back I teed off at 2000 and was done a full round before It was dark.

Well on the 'plus side', your first day might get a lot easier if they cancel the Euros, otherwise do you regularly do trans-Atlantic flights and have all that sorted out? Do you have a direct flight to GLA from your starting point in North America (guessing at NA)? That first day is a hiding to nowhere - otherwise or even if - IMHO. Getting out of Glasgow after the match and hopping in the car isn't going to happen as easily as a Google maps estimate might be and especially if it's Scotlanding (raining) out. Assuming the match is still on, I'd just stay the night in Glasgow and start your drive North early the following morning, you can still get 36 in.

Pre-8am teetime at Royal Dornoch sub 3hrs isn't a problem as a two ball, but the replays won't be anything near that. I see you've got a post-lunchtime round planned, so maybe with that huge gap in between you can get in a quick 10k. Additionally just because it's light out really late doesn't mean these golf clubs (and let's be clear these are clubs at which you are a guest - overseas member notwithstanding) want visitors traipsing around the place at 10pm.

Playing lots of golf just because you can aside, looping New and Jubilee over and over would be a slog, as EG already mentioned Eden and Elie should be in the mix if you're planning on playing that many rounds in Fife. I get the appeal of the St Andrews ticket, heck we did one a while back, but it's still good value even if you just play them all once or twice.

As you know, If you like golf, you'll love Scotland, so it's all good in the end :-)

Well, a lot has changed in a week obviously. I have cancelled the trip. I will try and go for a quick trip in October 2020 if possible (St Andrews only) and then up to Royal Dornoch in June 2021.

^Sensible call, such as things are at moment. There will always be another day to go golfing. I was over late May/early June and mid Sept last year and apart from the sun setting earlier the weather was better in the Autumn and there was footy to watch :-)

Think its a good call.

I might struggle to get home for May to golf, was wanting 4 weeks and flight is still booked. Getting stuck is not the end of the world with my own house there but......
