Clubs you regret selling?

Recommended Posts

Definitely.

MP-66 Yoro with custom satin. Idiot for selling. They should still be in the bag here 3 years later. Think I sold them on here actually to a guy with surfer in his name.

And also my Nike VR Pro II blades. When I got them, they were built to my specs and brand new for $550 because at the time, everyone dogged Nike. I wish I would have never swung them and just held them in pristine condition. But they were such great clubs and I never really had the game to stay with them. Pour one out for fallen irons...

Random custom sandblasted 54° Vokey wedge I picked up shortly after joining GolfWRX. Sent the buyer a couple emails later but never heard back. I was keen on having a matching set of whatever I was playing, and this didn't fit in with anything. Hit it great and still wonder why I sold it.

Tour only Scratch 58° WLD grind wedge. Like playing with a scalpel but the good shots were great. Same reason as above, felt like I needed to standardize with 2 matching wedges.

Adams 3446-f 14.5° tour head with a p9003x shaft. This one I actually managed to buy back a year later from the person I sold it to on GolfWRX and have held onto since.

When I graduated out of university I was just really getting into golf. Bought my first set of irons (after playing with a set my uncle had given me previously), a set of Mizuno MP-32's. Completely inappropriate for the 16 handicap that I was back then. Experienced the most horrific ball striking imaginable. So I bought a used set of game improvement irons off Callaway pre-owned. Kept the Mizuno's for a couple years then sold them to a close friend for a steal ($300). I was young, single, had a solid job.

I just wish I still had them. I want to know so bad if I could hit them/game them now. Just one of those things.

Sold off my original 3-PW 845s years ago. Regretted my decision for years. I'm ok now. I got a 1-SW set a few years ago for $100 CDN! Never gonna let that go for sure!

Titleist PT (original) 15* bore-through. I sold it when I moved into "modern" technology but I haven't been able to be consistent with a 3-wood since I sold it. If I could find a clean one I would buy it.

Yonex Ezone MBs and Mizuno MP37s. Both great iron sets, but sold because I didn't have enough space to store them.

Also regretted selling a Titleist 910 24* hybrid with a Diamana Thump shaft for a long time, though I like my 22* hybrid now. Like my current hybrid, that thing never went left.

Another slight regret was getting rid of my Titleist 910 19* hybrid. Now that did sometimes go left, but I also got on some par 5s in two with it, so I suppose it balanced out in the end.

I've always regretted selling my classic Titleist 975D. It was my high school driver that I bought when I made the team in 1999, and I sold it in about 2004 when I bought an r510.

I was in the second hand shop I sold it to about a month ago, and found the actual club I had sold. (As far as I can tell). Same graffaloy prolaunch, same grip, same loft and flex, and a marking where my shaft label was. Bought it back (probably for close to what I traded it in for...) but had to have it in my collection.

Yeah. As I got better and better with my swing and hitting the sweet spot more, my clubs that I collected in my basement over the years act like an entirely different animal now (in a very good way) than I did when I swung them as a beginner years ago.

I have a couple: a set of RAM Pro-Set irons that I bought in '98 (I think) and a blended set of PINGs that I got in the early 2000s. I'm not overly nostalgic which means I really only think about them when a thread like this pops up...

Driver PING G SF Tec

Wood PING G (18.5*)

Irons PING G30 (6-SW)

Putter PING DS72 2021 (35")

Bag Jones Classic Stand

Cart Clicgear 3.5+

TaylorMade P790, original version. I shot several under par rounds with these clubs. I felt I couldn't stop the ball how I wanted to, but I hit them so straight. I now have Mizuno JPX-919 Forged, playing good, but not shooting 68.

TM Stealth 10.5°, Standard setting.

Stealth Max 3-wood 16.5°, High-Launch.

SIM 3i Hybrid 19°

TM P-790 4i - First Edition

Srixon ZX5 5-9

Callaway Jaws5 PW

Vokey SM8 52°, 56°, 60° Jet Black

Scotty T22 Black Fastback, 35", original gray SC pistolero grip.

Pro V1 typically, V1x occasionally

PING "Hawaiian" Floral bag.

The correct WRX answer is everything and nothing at the same time.

I used to have a 425tp loaded up with heavy weights and an 80x Protopype tipped to length back in my college days....miss that club

Are you me? I had a Spine back in 2009/2010 I think when they were current. I still dream of that club, thing was disgusting how long it went. But the real treat was how straight it was due to the high MOI of the square head. I had the Spine with the stock UST V2 HMOI shaft, then I decided I needed to tinker and took out the V2 for an Aldila DVS to match my 4 wood at the time. For some reason I decided to tip it (why???) and the think was stupid stiff and all I could do was slice it. Then I traded it to my buddy for a snowboard. I never once took that snowboard out of the crawlspace. Mockingly that UST shaft stayed on the shelf of the shop I worked at for a couple of years until one of my coworkers took it and put it into something to finally end the cruel torture.

Basically my entire 2009-2012 bag for the most part could qualify for this thread as I regret almost all of these being sold/traded:

Spine driver - stock V2 66 HMOI stiff

Exotics XCG V 16.5 - Aldila DVS 75 stiff (although I'd wager my current 5 wood is a better club overall with how consistent I am with it)

Nike Sumo2 20* and 23* hybrids - V2 85 stiff hybrids

MacGregor NVG2 Mid 5-PW - Dynamic Gold SL Sensicore

MGFA --- Making Golf Fun Again

Paradym 9* - Accra TZFive 60

Paradym 15* - Accra TZFive 70

Paradym Triple Diamond 18* - Accra TZFive 70

Cobra Tec 21* and 25* - MMT 80

Ping i525 6-UW - Modus 120

Cleveland RTX 6 Zipcore 54* Mid and 58* Low+ - DG Tour Issue Spinner

Bettinardi Hive Custom

Callaway Chrome Soft X LS Triple Track Yellow; Lamkin Sonar Midsize + grips

The Rams were a very nice looking set of irons. Always wanted to try them and sometimes toy with trying to grab a set off the bay. I’d probably want to reshaft to graphite now.
