Mesa area assistance appreciated

Flying to PHX next week, assuming air travel is still on and need some suggestions for take out!

We are renting a house in Gold Canyon, will likely stay in the general area between it and Mesa for golf and dining. Anyone have suggestions for best breakfasts,.lunch, dinner, absolute junk food on that end of the Valley?. Is Southern Dunes worth the ~1 hour drive IYHO vs. a round at Dino?. Looking at a warm up round at Trilogy, then open for another conditions permitting.

Read the SW section, had every thing needed.Most dining is going to be takeout now - so you need to look around to see who can support.

Gold canyon is a long way from everything (including Trilogy). Apache Junction is the only thing between Gold Canyon and Mesa. Nothing of note there at all. Dining will be better at Gold Canyon than at AJ, but as noted most things are pick up only. Close courses I would recommend 1. Superstition Mountain (either course) if you have a pro that can call in and get you on. 2. Longbow.... better than trilogy IMO. 3.Gold Canyon Dinosaur Mountain. Quirky, but most out of towners really enjoy it once or twice. Southern Dunes is better than any I have recommended, but is an hour away (WEKOPA saguaro is 15-20 mins closer). Depending on plans to travel a bit or not, I would do Superstition Mountain and Dinosaur Mountain and stay put.

On the bright side traffic should be at zero by the time you get here. As @vallygolf notes there's nothing in Gold Canyon. Like, nothing nothing. They have a supermarket now and some minor chain restaurants I think. Chandler has a bunch of excellent options and Gilbert a few as well. None of them will be anything other than pick up or carryout.
All in all it is pretty hard to get more remote and still be in the Valley than Gold Canyon.

Thanks for the replies, have played Dino Mtn. a few times and agree with the assessments. Have played We-Ko-Pa once and glad to hear it's closer traffic wise than Southern. Found a deal on a house in Gold Canyon that was too hard to pass up, with the limited dining options the cookIng at home may be a nice choice.

Last time I visited, and it was a good while back at that, ended up closing Tres Banderas with one of the owners if I recall correctly. From what I've been told there where certain selections they brought out differently not on any menu. Played Longbow once right after the re-design work and did enjoy it.
