Home Confinement = Golf Spending Binge?

I too believe the market hasn't truly bottomed out. I've been holding out investing until, what I believe is inevitable, a domestic travel restriction. But as long as you're investing long term, you're still going to see a great ROI by investing now once the market recovers. So even if the $1 you invest now wouldn't get the same ROI as your $1 would get when the market truly bottoms out, it's still going to gain. Investing in airlines right now is free money. We're still going to need air travel in the future and the big companies (Delta, American, etc.) will still be there and they may even gain market share when all is said and done. Now is the time.

I am in the financial business and obviously I have my concerns, but I would be far more concerned if I lost my sense of humor. A joke is a joke and should be treated as such. Moving on...

Mevo and Net Returns arrived today. As soon as the market closes I will be setting them up and breaking in the Mizunos. They will be the first blades I’ve had since my first set of clubs. I have no doubt they will feel better than those Spalding ChiChi Rodriguez hand me downs I had as a kid.

I've resisted buying anything so far. There's still 3ft of snow on the ground here and golf season is still 1-2 months away but it is getting harder to not buy something.

Have not bought any actual clubs...yet, but definitely going ham on golf while cooped up.

bought some shafts and grips to build some Adams components I bought a couple years ago when they were getting closed out.

new shaft and grip for a putter build

grips to re-grip clubs I used to put together complete set for a buddy picking up the game.

new set of alignment sticks since I left one on the range.

Magnetic rangefinder holder

PuttOut

my kids are fighting over the one junior putter they share to play with the PuttOut, so looks like I’ll be buying another kids putter next.

and it’s only Thursday of week one.

edit: lol just remembered I bought some RTX4 wedges on the Walmart deal lastnight too

Didn't realize how much I was binging - things are adding up! So far it's been a couple headcovers from the Seamus 30% off sale, a new putting trainer, and a PuttOut. More to come I'm sure.

I've been pretty good about avoiding new purchases. I only picked up a couple putter grips to test and I've been stalking putters on ebay waiting for one to cross my path on the cheap.

I've bought more a ton of stuff, compared to my typical buying habits. Had been looking for wedges, specifically RTX 4s. Then that Walmart deal popped up and got a 54* for $48 shipped and saw RBG had open box RTX 4s for $80 so grabbed the 58* that Walmart didn't have. Also snagged some Z Stars for the buy 2 get 1 free. Lastly I've been looking to upgrade from my 915 D2 and found a mint TS2 with an Ahina shaft for a good deal.

I bought 12 dozen e6 soft balls

Handcrafted hzrdus yellow for a 3 wood that has been waiting for the shaft deal of the year

New Wilson hybrid

A small carry bag for my executive course nearby

And a bunch of other non golf related items that nobody really cares about.

I should probably get off my phone and back to working in the garage before, in true wrx fashion, I buy a new set of irons.

Count me in the group of people going oppo right now, not buying anything golf related unless I have to or it's a silly stupid deal. At least in the winter I could go to the dome to practice, but as of now there's nothing even open to use on account of closures. I can't even get my fix if I wanted. Have a brand new driver from a month ago, received right before this all broke, still in the wrapper in the corner, ruthlessly taunting me.

In the past few days, I've bought clothes from Bonobos with their site-wide 25% sale, a new driver headcover from Seamus with their 30% sale, a Vokey wedge, and a leather scorecard holder from Bluegrass Fairways. Helping to support the economy.

I bought a Scotty special select NP2 and a new set of Mizuno MP18 irons back in Jan/Feb without anticipating the economic downturn. I haven't purchased new clubs in over 8 years so this was a gift to myself. Now we don't know if we'll still have jobs in the next few months so I've been cutting out any non-essential purchases since March. I'm even hesitant to spend any money on greens fees even though that's what I'm itching for the most. The clubs are still in the plastic and I'm worried I might have to sell them if things don't turn around. Maybe I'm overreacting but I can't help but expect the worst.
