Can HS Boys beat LPGA Pros?

My opinion is that the LPGA players, with all things equal in terms of playing distance, would be trounced by the top 200 or so HS boy's. I really don't think it would be that close.

No. They are traveling the country playing 7000 plus. I am not talking the average HS Golfer. I am talking the best of the best. The LPGA players wouldn't stand a chance. You can't tell me that when Lydia Koe was 16 she was better than the top 100 16 year old boy's in that same time frame. The reality of it she wasn't and she was winning on the LPGA.

You are WAY off and underestimate the ability of LPGA players greatly

I played the Dinah Shore course 10 days before the major there, as a scratch. A scratch that is longer than most and used to play college golf successfully

Greens were tough, rough brutal, and the ladies went 10 under or so. And no offense, there are not many high schoolers I've ever had hang with me, and I am garbage

Now if you are talking about the best high schooler in the world vs the 150th ranked LPGA player it might be different

But, Lexi Thompson would wipe the floor with these kids

Disagree with you. A scratch golfer doesn't impress me. The top 200 are all a +3 or better. These kids are already shooting scores as good if not better than the women on a longer course. You put them on a 6400 yard course and the women don't stand a chance.

 

I think you guys are giving the women more credit than they deserve.

I am friends with an LPGA Tour player. I have seen her clean the clocks of scratch golfers who can hit 300+ yards playing the same tees. This is beyond ridiculous.

I think you need to play a little more tournament golf to discern the difference between a scratch, a top 200 +3 HS golfer, and a card carrying member of ANY tour, regardless of gender.

I hear you. I am not talking about scratch golfers. I am talking about kids that are +3 or better. Kids playing from 7000 yards. I am not talking about the typical HS golfer. I am just talking about that age of kid. Again, a scratch golfer doesn't impress me.

A: Are they doing it over 4 rounds? (Maybe the big tournies, but I take it a lot of HS events are one or two rounds) Are they doing it for prize money? You only have 8/20 rounds for your index, how are there anti-caps? Courses around here are full of + cap players. They are good no doubt, but I don't see them cruising to 65s all the time. The creme of the crop of HSers that will become tour pros at 21 maybe, but some 17yr old ranked 150th? No way.

B: Giving them more credit than they deserve? What does that mean? I honestly don't understand why you're looking to diminish a league and their players? Seems a weird path to focus on for male high school golfers.

Who mentioned HS events? I certainly didn't. I said HS golfers. Better yet HS aged kids. Yes, the best of these kids are playing 4 day tournaments from 7000 + yards and are shooting in the 60's.

 

I will say this again. At 16 Lydia Koe was winning on the LPGA. If you think she could have beaten the top 100 16 year old males at that time playing from the same distance, you are foolish.

Your argument is based off handicap and gender differences.

 

Lydia was a +6.3 when she was was 16. And thats a TOURNAMENT+6.3.

 

You think cause a kid can pound it 300 and shoot 68 on an AJGA course he can beat Jessica Korda, Nelly Korda, Lexi?

 

Again, theres a monumental difference in the golf the high school kids are playing and the golf of an LPGA Tour member.

Women's course ratings in tournaments from shorter distances are also high than a man's from a longer distance. Honestly, it is hard to compare a women's +6 to a men's +6. Welcome to Junior Golf Scoreboard

Take this random AJGA. Girl's shoot a 70 and their Scoring diff is +4.6 while the boy's shoot a 70 and are +2.5.

 

I actually know a lot about junior tournament golf.

Other than the US Open, show me a tough track the women play. No one said a HS tourney. Don't confuse HS golfers with HS age golfers.

Over 4 days, I say the HS kid gets spanked 9 times out of 10 by an LPGA player. You bring in a top 10 lady player and it goes up to 10/10. You bring in top level D1 boys and I say the LPGA player still wins but only 60% of the time.

 

I'm pretty convinced that I (a 5 index) could easily beat Allison Lee, but she hasn't returned any of my calls yet. :(
