Lake Oconee Golf Trip

Group (16) is targeting the Lake Oconee area this September/October for our annual trip.

Already found a few houses (like to all be in the same house) but looking for course recommendations.

We play 36/36/18/18, thinking you guys have some thought? Thanks.

Not sure if Reynolds Plantation is open to the public if you aren't staying at the resort, but maybe check there. I am playing Cuscowilla during Master's week but think it might be private and a one off deal for that week, but it's a great course and worth looking into. Played a course called Harbour Club on a previous Master's trip and it was pretty good too. Not sure if it's private or not either.

Reynolds will be very expensive if you can get on, since you're not on property. Hell, on property rates are stupid expensive. Great waters is shutting down for a remodel in June through late '19.

Cuscowilla is the bomb. Coore/Crenshaw design is fantastic. They are private but not super hard to get on. I would call them. They have cabins on property for rent.

Harbor club is semi private and a good play. You can get out there for $50-70 per man.

No other options really, unless you want to make another hour drive, then the UGA course is good.

Great Waters is nice if you can get on it. I think it cost about $125 to play it. It has the most holes on the lake of any course there. Cuscuwilla is nice too but doesn't have nearly as many holes on the lake. Sometimes if you have your pro call they will let you on some of the Private courses there.

i stayed on property at reynolds, in a really nice cabin, and played great waters and oconee. beautiful courses, great service, would definitely go back.

You need to know that this area is very remote, closet decent size town is Athens, Ga and it's 45 min to an hour away.

Looking at Lake Oconee for next 12 guy golf trip. We've done Sea Pines, Pinehurst, Myrtle and looking to expand. So I emailed Lake Oconee looking for a house to accommodate all of us. There are plenty on VRBO. But he says we have to stay at one of their places in order to get on the courses. I know folks have done otherwise. Is it just more money to play if we choose to stay off campus?? Any insight? The Lake Oconee guy didn't want to entertain it for me, saying they're a private place.
