Rifle Spinner Shafts

Make a difference or just marketing hype?

researching shafts and came across the rifle spinner, do these provide any benefit to your wedge game? simply because it's named spinner I am skeptical and wanted to hear others experiences/reviews, thanks.

I have put them in my Ping Eye 2 sand and lob wedges and have experienced an incredible difference in spin and control. I think they are fanastic.

i have them in mine and to me they are not hype. They a very smooth feeling and to me help the ball control. But that is just me.

so the shaft actually affects feel? i have cleveland 588's that work great but feel terrible, more spin is nice but i gotta get these things feeling right

I have spinners in my old set of wedges. I either need to re-groove them or get some spinners in my new wedges too. gotta love'em.

If you're a smooth transition guy who wants a softer tip for more spin and feel around the greens, the Spinners are great.

yea id like to know more about this topic, specifically the stiffness on these and if they are versatile...that might sound funny but i want a sturdy shaft taht i can use strong outta sand and lobbing but also chipping and longer shots

i have spinners in black ox mizunos - 52-56-60 great feeling shafts - in fact like them so much my back up black pearl cg 10,s with black pearl s400 shafts are going to be pulled and spinners installed :)

Have been useing them for several years. They were / are the prefered shafts of the pelz wedges (5.5 & 4.5)

At Leaderboard Golf, these Rifle Spinners come in Reg, Stiff and X-Stiff. I've also heard that some suppliers have them in 5.5, 6.0, 6.5 and 7.0. What I've gleaned from what Rifle Spinners are, they are supposed to be the (8) iron shaft in that particular set. :)

i looked at getting spinners for a while in my wedges. i had gone a couple of times to a certified rifle clubfitter to look at new iron shafts (45 minute club fitting became a lesson - shafts were fine, my hand were behind the clubhead - this alone proved these guys were a quality place), new driver shaft, and finally new 3-wood and wedge shafts. the fitter knew my swing pretty well at this point. i explained to him that i am a rifle ho and wanted to go with rifle shafts in my wedges, maybe spinners. he asked about my shot selection, half shots, 3/4 shots, full shots, etc.... and i told him i hit them all. he said because i have a fairly aggresive swing and i would be going from s400 to rifle that he recommended me to just use the standard rifle shafts and not the spinners. he said the spinners softer tip and lower kickpoint could cause a lot of height, too much, and inconsistentcy in distance control. i play 6.0 shafts in my irons, and i ended up putting a 6.0 in my 53* and 5.5 in my 58* and 60*. the difference is noticeable. i am to keep the ball down, but am putting more spin on the ball than before.

so if i my swing speed is 98mph and i hit the ball reasonably high what should i do?.. should i use spinners or just normal rifles in my wedges?

My understanding is that these are available in (3) Flexes which are:

As I understand it, Rifle Spinners provide a noticable difference in spin and "feel" (pretty subjective, but they feel softer) which are especially helpful for finesse shots around the green. I am looking pretty hard at having my sand and lob wedges reshafted with them, but not my gap wedge, which I use for full shots and some chipping). They come in 4.5, 5.5 and 6.5 flexes.

Rifle spinners play really soft and if you hit anything more than a half shot with it, distance control becomes erratic.

They are great for tons of different shots around the green, but when you start moving farther from the hole the shafts are just too soft IMO. If you use your wedge mainly for shots around the green then they are fantastic, but if you also use you wedge for full swings you should probably take a look at Dynamic Golds or something along those lines.

The Spinners play about a half flex softer than their non-Spinner Rifle counterparts on full swings. Therefore, if one is going to use Spinner wedges for full shots, make sure not to "underspec" or what is described above could occur.
