He is a great guy. I played 18 with him at Kiawah Ocean Course about 15 years or so ago. When he sank the putt it was unreal but his celebration reaction reminded m Ethan all golfers don’t seem to be athletes at times.

Leonard is seriously an underrated player. He could have easily have won the 1999 Open and 2004 PGA.

I loved him hitting 1 irons from the tee and landing iron shots short of the green to let them run up to the pin. It was pure links golf.

At the 1999 Open, he went for the green on the 18th thinking he needed a birdie to have a chance to win. It went in the burn and he got up and down for bogey.

At the 2004 PGA, Leonard had a two-shot lead with five holes to play with an 18-foot (5.5 m) birdie putt on 13. Leonard missed four putts inside 12 feet (3.7 m) down the stretch including a 12-foot par putt on No. 18 which would have given him his second major championship.

I'm a big Leonard fan, even though I'm a Brit I still can't hate him after THAT putt in the Ryder Cup.

 

My fondness for Leonard comes from the fact the 1997 Open at Troon was the first golf tournament my father took me to see as a child. We then proceeded to visit everyone until 2008 when he passed away.

 

I always thought this must have been special a special moment for both O'Meara and Woods considering their friendship.

Worsham called for an official to determine who was away on the 90th hole of the 1947 US Open during the playoff.

Snead putted his birdie putt short and was ready to putt out before the official was called. It was determine Snead was to play and he went to miss the putt for par.

Worsham made his par to win.

Poor Snead...if he could putt he would’ve been as unstoppable as Nelson...

 

as it were Nelson remains the most underrated putter ever to lace up shoes...

his cut streak could only be beaten by the greatest putter who ever played in tiger...

 

jones said Nelson could and would whip hogan, Snead and anyone else at Augusta more than a decade after retiring because his putting stroke was so pure and unequalled...

George Knudson was a friend of my fathers and taught me how to first swing a club.. I still recall vividly, him with a stogey in his mouth and an Iron in hand launching balls over the driving range net onto the highway..

Interesting fact: While working at The Greenbrier, Snead played in the U.S. Pro Tennis Championships. In the first round, he faced eventual winner Karel Kozeluh, losing to Kozeluh by scores of 6-1, 6-1, and 6-1.
