My best swing... what would you change?

I’m in college and have been playing golf for 2 years now working hard at it... trying to get to scratch or better!

Love how you shallow the club at the top! Great move.

I wouldn’t change much, but if you’re looking for one or two things to improve upon I would say that your take away is slightly dominated by the right hand and that you do have a hint of early extension.

Possibly look into proper weight shift mechanics and weaken the grip of the right hand a smidge.

Everything looks great tho! Wish my buddies could swing like that after 2 years of development!

I guess that’s just a product of other things that I have worked on. Spent lots of time on YouTube and lots of time experimenting with what works for me! I have a slightly strong grip so that I can lean the handle forward without having to try to roll my hands through impact because even though I was taught that from the beginning I just found that I only hit hooks that way.

One swing, with that tiny image, is a bit hard to catch some things, but from what I can see from that angle you should just not be ridiculously hard on your self and go work on your short game twice as hard as you did on your full swing. Short game is where it is at and covers a lot of sins. Even the top tour players do not hit it perfect all the time and their short games cover their mistakes. Work on 100 yds and in as hard as you can. Just my .02.

I wish my swing were that good after two years. At the time, I did not have the benefit of putting myself on video, using slow-motion, or having a grasp of today's golfing knowledge that is now pervasive in the world of golf, since teaching has become somewhat universal; home-made swings were still around when I started playing golf, but thanks to Faldo's popularity, combined with Leadbetter's teachings, that certain positions are conventional and popular knowledge.

In your swing, your body turn or pivot is fine, your shaft positioning is spot-on, particularly on the takeaway and getting the club up on its end halfway back. Transition is good, and so is delivery position and impact. If there is anything I can change: I want to see your left foot finish slightly inside vertical.

What's your handicap now, and how many greens are you hitting on an average day?

I hit a lot of greens in reg but my short game is not the best. Probably 12 greens and handicap around 5

Yeah you need to spend waaaay more time practicing getting up and down, 12 greens is a really good number

Good work OP. 2 years doesn’t shock me. It usually either clicks or it doesn’t.

 

best advice I can give is don’t come back here looking for advice. It will lead to rabbit holes and changes that eventually circle back around to basics of where you are now. Learn to be responsible for your own swing fixes. Based on that video you have a basic understanding of what YOU do. You do you as they say. ( I hate that saying. Lol). Learn to score. Swing is plenty good enough to go low. But soooo many more pieces required to get there. Good luck. ?

I have tried playing left handed but man is it hard. I can hit the ball but it goes nowhere near far as my right handed swing. Maybe it's easier for you if you are left hand dominant.
