TITLEIST TS Drivers... do they hold up in 2020?

If you limit the Tableau selection to just Titleist, all 3 weight settings appear although it resets the grid since everything measured so far right of neutral. You can also select past years and compare previous model test data. The one positive about the TS3 is that the CG is the lowest that Titleist has ever released.

Ah gotcha, thanks for that. Weird that they omitted those in the "All" view for 2019. What I guessed looks to be accurate though, only 0.8mm different either side of Neutral.

And that is true, i'm excited to see if Titleist can keep the CG down and increase MOI with the next release. I'd also like to see them ditch the SureFit CG cartridge, it is so clearly inferior in terms of adjustment range compared to the competitors.

Correct, that key scrolls and TS3 would have literally been the very next one in the list. It is in fact the one I pointed out in the graphic though, that is still accurate.

Agreed, the Surefit CG is arguably the least efficient movable weight design on the market and doesn't add much value aside from adjustments for swing weight purposes (not to mention the complaints about the weights not seating tightly and causing a rattle for some people). I think Titleist would make alot of people happy if they came up with something similar to the TS3 only more neutral weighted, a bit more MOI, and without the SureFit CG.

Yup love mine. Havent been tempted for a new driver since I got my TS2 in December of 2018. Shocking as that and my TS2 3W are the longest standing clubs in my bag at the moment.

The TS3 is a monster. Performance/feel wise it reminds me of the Cobra LTD (but available in a sexier 8.5* package). If I am honest, I don't love the way it looks on the sole, I think the TS2 and TS4 look way better upside down, but the look at address is the best from any OEM in the past few years IMO. It is just so classic and neutral with the perfect shape. I agree on the surefit cartridge, it does not move the weight that much, but what it does do better than any other weight distribution device is change the feel. As was mentioned, the TS3 is naturally draw biased, so it is great for those who miss closer to the heel. Even though I play a draw, I fall into that category of heel-side misses, and when I put the weight on the heel side, the sound/feel gets super smushy and I love it. I could see some people absolutely not getting along with it due to CG location, but paired with the right shaft (obviously) it hits bombs and looks good doing it.

TS3 is the new 913. It will be locked into bags for years and we will all complain about the next several cycles of Titleist drivers because they won't be the TS3.

Been through 123123123 iron sets, but still on the TS3. Have hit SIM/Mavrik/G410/F9/Epic Flash/possibly others, but I just stick with the old trusty. Something about it just looks right at address. Agree that the sole is kinda ugly, but as Tiger says, if you can't see it at address, who cares.

MY GOODNESS!!! How in the world can the TS3 be such a popular driver on Professional Tours with a heal biased COG of 4mm!!! BLASPHEMY!!!

All kidding aside, my TS3 is the best driver I've ever hit, paired with the UST LinQ Purple it is the most consistent driver I've EVER played. My miss is typically in the heal and with my throw weight set for more weight in the heal it's no wonder why I don't have the high right miss and VERY GOOD ball speeds even with a slight miss.

Any driver with weighting set more toe side will deliver fade biased gear effect on a centered contact... plain and simple. An actual fade biased driver will have a flat lie angle compared to standard lies.

I don't know, it's possible the COG is the sweet spot. Elite tour pros don't hit the dead center of the sweet spot with a driver every time but I'm sure there are some GolfWRX's that will argue that they personally do :) I've always had the best results with a heal weighted biased driver anyways because of my heel miss, might be why the TS3 does work best for me.

Yep. I went to my early morning fitting after a very late night so 100% was not swinging at my best. I struggled with the TS3 for that reason, and the TS2 gave me better numbers on the day. Not sure if it would be the same case on any other day or not - I was feeling particularly seedy. Anyway, I walked away fitted for a TS2 with EvenFlow White 65/6.5 and it's been treating me very well ever since. I've hit some of the longest drives I've hit in some time - I think I was hitting my old Cobra L4VX with Aldila DVS X in there further, but that was ten years ago, pre-shoulder reconstruction. My swing speed is down 8mph to 109 since then.

And I'm hitting more fairways than I have for a while, and I can really step on this thing and not worry about really bad misses (although left is still my jam). Arccos is giving me 275m as my "smart distance" with 312m as my longest. I've hit further, but not as consistently and not as accurately.

Numbers with G410 and SIM came close, but it wasn't worth the change-over haircut.

Having heel weighting and being draw biased arent necessarily the same thing. The Ping drivers are a good example on the opposite end of the spectrum. Looking at that same chart the G410 plus shows up as toe weighted but i havent seen many people claim that it is a fade biased driver. The lie is 58.5 which is fairly upright so it looks like they cancel out to make a fairly neutral driver.

The face angle at address can also have an affect since a lot of people get their grip with the club soled.

TS3 is money but I do keep cracking or denting the face. I have gone through 4 heads now and am currently on my 5th head. Thank god for that 2 year warranty cause If I had to buy a new one each time I would have switched to something else a long time ago. I love the driver and it is the best driver I have played but the face is so damn thin. I’m thinking about switching to the TS4 to see if it holds together a little better. Best driver I have ever played performance and feel wise tho.

My (now) 77 year old father had a bad run with Titleist drivers a few years ago and refuses to buy another because he kept breaking the face. It wasn't swing speed related so I have no idea what caused it.

What type of break was he experiencing? Clubhead cracking or shaft break? I've see more shaft breakage from repetitive heel strikes which puts MAJOR load and stress on the shaft tip... this is true with any manufacturer.

He didn't have any shaft issues - he says he was finding hairline vertical cracks in the centre of the face. I lived overseas at the time and didn't see it in person.

It wasn't so much the cracks which put him off Titleist, but the process of getting a replacement here in Australia. It took months. A new order takes days to arrive, but the replacement process wasn't very expeditious. He had several 975 JVS' fail in the same way, so it was some time ago.

He is - and was - a talented golfer, playing off about 4 at the time, and he's boringly sensible, so I don't doubt that it happened just through normal, expected use.

I moved from a 917D3 to a TS4 over the winter, and WOW! The TS4 gives me a couple extra yards of carry thanks to lower spin and a flatter flight apex, but it's immensely more consistent than the 917. My not so great shots still travel a long way and they're not hooked off the face of the planet as could occasionally happen with the 917. The sound and feel of the TS are better than the 917, it's much more pleasing to look at in the playing position than any of the current crop of drivers, and for me, still produces the most consistent results. Did I hit the Mavrik SZ further by a little tiny bit, yes, but I also didn't have as consistent a set of results either. I used all of the clubface on the Mavrik whereas I am more centered to slightly high toe with the TS4. In all fairness, however, the Mavrik was at the Callaway stock nearly 46" and my TS4 is 44.25", so there's that. Anyway, my TS4 will be staying for a long time.

I just picked up a TS3 10.5* today. I have a TS2 now, but I miss more left with it as opposed to the TS3 which flew straighter. I also liked how the face of the TS3 has more roll to it.

You mentioned the TS3 reminds you of the LTD. I had an LTD Pro that was stolen a few years back. I've had a few drivers since--F9, Epic/Epic Flash etc but have always missed the sound/feel/overall performance of the LTD Pro. So much so, that I am considering trying to buy one again. So how close is the TS3 to the LTD? You mentioned the TS3 is "naturally draw biased"? That would def not work for me as that is my miss--I need something with an open face and fade bias, if anything. I'd imagine some settings on the hosel could correct that, though. I guess, having read your post, I'm wondering if I should be considering the TS3, especially since the prices have dropped, and may drop further given the Covid crisis. Thanks!

I can't stand it. My driver speed is similar and I much prefer the EvenFlow White 60/6.5 I have in my TS2. I like to think my tempo is moderate, but it's been so long since I've swung a club that I can't quite remember.

When these first came out, I went to the GG near me and all they had (in a shaft that was anywhere close to my specs) was the TS2. Didn't love it. Looked odd to me and I didn't really care for the sound/feel. So I sort of wrote the whole line off. Boy was I wrong. During all this, I've been trying a couple of different heads and got my hands on a TS3 for a great price. Wow! Paired with a Speeder Evolution 757 TS, this thing is amazing. Feels and sounds great! The ball just seems to explode off the face.
