Can someone please comment on the tour issue 'double dot' vs. the retail dot model? I'm told the double dots have even less offset? Is this true? Are they forged by Endo?

Had a chance to hit these. Felt and looked very nice. Was surprised to find a set in my spec I could hit off grass. They felt nice (not MP20 blade nice but nice nonetheless - way better than the standard) but I’m struggling to see what they offer over a blade. Thin strikes are no better and everything else seemed the same aside from slightly masking the feel of miss hits. Results were the same from what I could tell. Anybody compared directly to the MB? No help low in the face. Maybe a bit toe side? Not my miss so I didn’t research thoroughly haha. Merry Xmas all.

I've really been looking at these lately. I believe in another thread @J13 said he talked to the Callaway Tour department and they said the double dots are a bit heavier 8-PW and also have a bit more offset in 8-PW than the single dot. Single and double dots both have thinner topline, less offset, NO facecup, thicker "muscle pad" and weaker lofts than the retail Pro model. Double dots also have 18 grooves, single dot has 15 grooves.
Probably going to build a set to test this winter if I can find a set of heads for a decent price.

Love the higher groove count, but I wonder why heavier and more offset in those scoring clubs?

So I got fitted into the Atmos tour black 6s driver shaft. I work at my local golf course, and one of the pro's there also has that shaft in his driver. He got his off the tour bus, I got my stock from Mizuno in my ST190G. They might as well not have the same name of the shaft according to him after he swung my driver and his back to back. I still love my new driver though.

Literally how factory fitting is completely different than what actual tour players play, even though the the names of the products are the same. I figured the average person would be able to figure that out, but you sir apparently are too inept to figure it out. Great job buddy.

I apologize as I haven't had a chance to read the whole thread. Where exactly is the "dot" on the head? Is it only on the hosel? Is it on the head near the number? I've seen some at the store that have that plasticy looking dot near the iron number in a store close to my house but didn't look at the hosel? I'm not sure if they are selling dots or not because if they are I might grab a set since I heard they are sold out and/or hard to come by now.

It's the dot on the hosel next to the 19. All apex pro models have the dot on the sole under the number. I believe so. I just picked up a set via ebay. Also have seen some on BST. They definitely aren't available directly from Callaway anymore.

 

Double dot? Who knows where to get those.

Is anyone actually using the apex pro dots. I’m intrigued, but it seems like almost no usage on this board, which gives me pause.

I have been playing a set of the Apex Pro Dots for the last month. In short, I haven’t looked at another iron set since they arrived which is very unlike me. The dots are what the Apex Pros should have been. They feel And sound so much better than the normal Apex Pros. Remember, these were a limited set so my guess is that the reason you aren’t seeing much about them is because there is not that many sets out in the wild.

I hate every single one of you. Because of this #%@ing thread I've now added a completely unnecessary 9th iron set to my garage.

That said, the "Like New" Dots are on Callaway Pre Owned right now for ~$690, and I just got through a grueling interview process for a new job, so thought I'd treat myself.

I just took possession of a set of 4-PW Apex Pro Dot irons w/ DG Tour Issue X-100 from Callaway Pre-Owned. I only have one range session in, so I'll just give a mini-review.

Previous iron sets:

-Mizuno MP-32 w/ X100

-Titleist AP2 712 w/ S300

-Apex Pro 2014 w/ Tour-V 110 (S)

-Apex Pro 2016 w/ Tour-V 120 (X)

I've been super happy with my 2016 Apex Pros but my swing speed is back up over the last few years and I've been over-powering the shafts. Love them otherwise - didn't want to spend the money on a re-shaft with the DOTS now affordable on CPO's website, especially with the 20% off coupon they've had running.

The review will be pretty short, 2016 Apex Pros are probably the most forgiving player's clubs I've ever played, especially considering how thin the top line is. The 2019 Apex Pro Dots are just as forgiving with the main difference being the look at address. They have significantly reduced offset than my 2016 Apex Pros, which is a huge confidence booster since I'm a pretty low index at 7.8 and I fight a hook miss with just about every club in my bag. I have a 2018 Apex MB 7 iron and they look pretty much the same at address with the Apex 2019 Dot just having a ever so slightly larger footprint. I think these are going to be winners.
