Homemade Indoor Practice Contraptions - Let’s See Them

Who’s staying at home during this coronavirus isolation and work from home order? I got tired of chipping AG practice balls aimlessly, so I rigged together some empty boxes for a target practice and scoring system. That “50 point” box is a challenge, but I made a few in. Need to work on the process, rather than hastily looking up to see the result. Also have wedges in lofts from 54 to 60, in 2 degree increments change things up. This might actually help my game later on.

I play a similar game with one of those 3-ring portable chipping nets. Basically 3 points for bullseye, 2 points for 2nd ring, 1 point for outside ring, -1 for missing the whole net. I hit 10 balls and have to score 20 points in a round before I can quit. Some days it's quick and easy, other days I question whether I should change hobbies. I like finding ways to create pressure during practice.

I also make floating targets with pool noodles and hit Almost Golf balls into them. Easy to retrieve with the pool net.

Edit: nobody probably wants a Penthouse reference, lol, so if you missed it you can just wonder WTH it was all about, lol.

My most favorite memory of a home golf practice contraption? Although you would think a reasonably intelligent kid could figure it out (but my mind was clouded with other things, haha), it was a Golf Digest idea -- two parallel strips of masking tape on my smooth carpet I used to practice my putting stroke. Putted at a little round piece of paper I cut out. For hours.

Little pitch shots were practiced on the red shag in the basement (until I hit our first color TV - no damage thank goodness, then I adjusted my aim away from the TV - my dad, "You could just aim the other way, okay?" - of course that made it hard to practice and watch TV at the same time, jeez).

Good memories on a go to work but not interact with anyone Thursday.

This little guy watched me practice, and practice! As you can see he was a smart one. ;-)
