I put up a link to the home page of Quail yesterday. I've never played it. I got an invite to Raspberry falls on Friday and I just kinda noped on that. too far, and honestly, I just feel like riding it out at this point.

QV was closed by the state, then allowed to re-open because of some waiver, then they're closed again.

Channel 9 was doing their "drive around and see whats going on in your neighborhood" bit last night and there was a park in MoCo where there must have been 30-40 people out playing basketball/waiting to get on. Zero distancing. Makes sense. Close golf courses but let 40 dummies all pack closely together playing a contact sport. Pretty smart!

I realize I'm replying to a snarky response, but you know the point is that if golf courses are closed, then why aren't the public basketball courts. At least with golf people can separate themselves. That's impossible playing pick-up basketball.

MVCC is doing some interesting things trying to get their members engage through virtual stuff. Dropping off stuff at members house, etc. I need to save my pennies - it’s a club you want to be apart beyond golf

It may surprise some of you to know that I don't consider myself a natural athlete and wasn't that good at basketball.

However the "swing thought" I had during middle school gym class would apply wonderfully to if I was forced to play a pickup basketball game right now.

From the emails I've received (from the few courses I get emails from) and from just now browsing Golfnow, all the VA courses are open for play. Looks like they are doing a lot of GN hot deals...and people are grabbing them up.

 

How long will they be allowed to stay open? Who knows...

I'm actually not good at basketball. that was just for the LOL.

I was good at soccer.

I had good endurance.

Decent hand/eye and foot/eye coordination, but mostly I just have a lot of "grit".

i'm actually curious if I play a lot if I'll get good at hacky sack (again). I've noticed a couple old moves come back out of nowhere. But that's probably going away when golf comes back.

ok i'll avoid corona talk and go back to golf talk. anybody ever watched mr short game? he has three videos talking about hitting shots from 60, 80, and 100 yards. lots of good stuff in them. but. you gotta filter out so much noise in golf. one of his keys is that you have to keep your weight on your left leg. so i started watching tiger woods hit wedges. it's interesting. he doesn't keep his weight on his left leg. you know what both mr short game and tiger DO have in common? Man they rotate. look at tiger's finish. i tend to not rotate.

 

you know he's clearly hitting it more than 100 yards in that first video. this shot is 80 yards. less weight shift

There has been obvious interest in not laying anyone off so the board is trying to get creative in ways that they can keep people engaged/employed. I know last night they were talking about selling people "ingredient boxes" and then having the chef - who is very good - do online cooking classes once a week. Stuff like that.
