Nice. I have both 9* and 10.5* Mav Max heads. Based on course-time, I am leaning 9*. Even the 9* launches easily, and I have found that +1 N works great with the heavier weight in the heel. But planning on hitting both heads on the Trackman this coming weekend to get some numbers. Let us know what you think when you get to hit yours.

I agree with an above post about Epic Flash vs Mavrik if both being the same or even close in the numbers the Mavrik feel/sound is amazing and blows the Flash away. No more terrible aluminum bat sound when you happen to catch one in the middle. This year the SIM Max and Mavrik both sound and feel amazing. I went back to Callaway because for the life of me I cant turn over TM drivers and slice them off the planet.

What I'm not sure of is the shaft in my Mavrik. The Even Flow Blue was amazing with the Epic Flash SZ but in the Mavrik it seems to be spinning too much but I have no numbers to confirm. Pondering one of those KBS wood shafts just to try it.

Thanks for the youtube review. Interesting. You know, I should probably give the standard Mavrik head more of a chance compared to the Mav Max. Somewhat due to preconceived notions as you mention, I kind of focused my testing on the Max heads, even though I also picked up a 10.5* standard Mav head. Methinks more testing is to come.

Curious what lofts you were hitting in the three heads?

Thanks man appreciate the feedback! I still have not got a new driver for 2020 yet as I need to do more testing myself. So many good options out at the moment.

I started out with the Max in 10.5 but then swapped and did all of the testing with 9* heads. It might say 10.5 on the screen for the Max but it is a 9* head. Sorry I should have mentioned this in the video. I'm new so still learning haha

I believe the custom drivers get this head cover. Mine matched purely by luck

All good. So I am on a golf trip in Arizona right now. And your review inspired me to bring both my standard Mavrik 10.5* head, as well as my Mav Max 9* head. I had pretty much relegated the standard Mav head to the sidelines, while I was focusing almost entirely on the Mav Max. But I was hitting both heads at the range today before my first round on the trip, and the standard Mav head was showing out more than the Mav Max. And in fairness, the Mav Max hasn’t blown me away with consistency in the few rounds I have had it in play back home.

I really gave the standard Mav a good run during the round today, and it was great. The thing with the Mav Max is, I spend so much time with the weights—heavy weight in heel, then heavy weight in back, then different weights, etc. And I don’t seem to get comfortable. Whereas the standard Mav head just has the one weight, so once you get that dialed in for the swing weight you want, and find a hosel setting that works, it just takes the thinking and second-guessing out of the equation. Just rip it, and it either works or it doesn’t. But this standard Mav head was working today. Will give it another run tomorrow. YMMV.

just got in a tour issued Mavrik 3 wood with a Ventus Red 7X. Unfortunately I’ve been sick the last few days (self quarantine) but now my younger son also is sick and it’s been raining for the past 3 days so no range time either. So unfortunately I haven’t had the chance to test it out yet, except swinging in the garage but they both feel great. I purchased a regular Mavrik head off a whim from someone on the BST and paired it with a Ventus Black 6X. It was a beast and could easily hit both fades and draws. Felt a bit light and sent it to J13 to have some hot melt to get the weight up. Supposed to play Wednesday and I cannot wait as the driver was very nice and I loved the sound and feel. That’s going to change a bit with the hot melt but I’ve always liked when drivers have hot melt so I don’t think this will be any different.

forgot to state the Tour Issued Mavrik 3 wood is 14.9* and 1 degree open but looks square when I’ve put it behind the ball. Much smaller than my tour issued Flash from last year and smaller than the stock Flash SZ 3 wood I have. I like the look of a smaller more compact head as I like to hit them both off the tee and off the deck. Nice and shallow head as well, which I like.

driver is stock and 9*. Have it at standard and neutral and had the weight set in neutral.

Finally hit the Mavrik 3 wood with the Ventus Red on the range yesterday. Wow, so nice. My swing was rusty after being sick and not playing for a bit. Still was hitting it well. Very compact and shallow face. Glad I went and hit a few. An hour after I got home the county put out an order for lockdown. Then the Governor asked that the whole state stay inside, except for essential needs (grocery store, meds, gas, etc). Golf courses and ranges all closed today for 2 weeks and possibly longer.

I was hitting the tour issued Mavrik 3 wood vs my Tour Issued Flash. Mavrik has a Ventus Red 7X and Flash has Ventus Blue 7X. The Mavrik was just solid and a little smaller head than the Flash. Sits nice and shallow behind the ball for easy shots off the deck.

could be the head as it’s a fixed hosel and the Flash has the adjustable but the Mavrik was a little longer. Since it was the same day and same swing it was a good comparison for me.

Plus, these days, they generally have one fixed hosel FW (Mavrik), and one adjustable FW (Epic Flash) on the market at the same time. Different strokes for different folks. I have some Mav Max fairways which are really good, and also some GBB Epic fairways which are excellent as well.

I've hit the pro hybrid and found it to be kind of face biased honestly. Just not a hybrid guy myself.
