Lets see if we can get these courses open but in a safe way for everyone

Why keep them closed? Rec parks are open, hiking trails open, why not a golf course that's practicing social distancing?

Im not from Maryland but I hope my course opens. I went for a jog yesterday and theres hundreds of people walking through parks. If they can do that why have golf courses closed?

I understand closing the restaurants and bars at clubs. But 4 people at a time on 400yds of real estate....

i changed my mind and signed the petition for those who want to play. I can see both sides. It's just that some people do not always conform and invariably will come close enough..then arguments, then fights? and you know people would bring some alcohol no matter what. I do go to a school park to walk and keep well away from folks..not just for me, but for them also. Would be nice if all played by the same rules...bottom line, this is a serious virus and could cause severe illness in people before you know it...there is no vaccine, no treatment as yet. Let's look at the whole picture.

I think you will always have people that break any rules that are in place (regarding anything really). So i'm only going by if you can get something done within the guidelines of trying to stay safe that are being provided locally. Here (i understand guidelines in different countries and states are different) they are encouraging people to go out for walks, runs etc if you can maintain safe distances

I go out for a run every day (alone) and see hundreds of people out walking. Most are doing their due diligence to stand apart. Locally here, we seem to be OK with that

So just for me, golf doesn't seem much different than that, as long as a course kept their restaurant closed. 4 people can tee off, and stand away from each other on each hole fairly easily.

I'd be fine with them having some makeshift solution rather than a hole, for example like some putting greens that have the "above ground" targets.

Appreciate open minded people. My wife and I are both in the healthcare world so we're seeing first hand whats going on and practice social distancing and sanitizing very seriously. With that said the courses locally have done an excellent job at making the sport safe and compliant (more so than any park or trail i've seen in the last 2 weeks) Golf (if done properly) is maybe the best and safest activity in sports simply because you can play without ever getting close to someone or sharing a single thing in the course of play. Being indoors is the most likely way to catch it as droplets can stay in the air and on surfaces much longer. The more people spread out and stay outdoors the better they will be.

being able to continue golfing has been massive. I think riding carts is a bad idea however. My clubs approach, walking only unless handicapped, always been online bookingupside down cups,no pins in practice areas, no rakeS. it’s not public so there are issues we don’t have that public’s do, for example no exchange of currency, and the range has balls already on the ground.
