Who wants it, and what are the rumors...

Looks are great. Slightly closed face but tolorable. Sounds much louder than the 425cc R7. Flies simular. Added confidence with the larger head. I am going to spend some time this week with a few guys and we will review this and some others. Here are some Pics. Real good looking head. Compared to the 425cc...

I hit the r7 460 next to the r7 425 at a demo day today. For me the 460 launched noticable higher than the 425 and sounded much louder at impact. The sound was more high pitched than the 425. I prefer the 425 over the 460.

I'm a bit sceptical on the 460. No new technology vs the R5, the adjustability is minimal, and at greater expense. This seems like a $399 price point driver, what is TM going to offer for $299? They need something at that pp.

460 Tp model coming out in July/August according to the rep at Taylor Made that I talked to today. Seriously, when does it end with these guys. There is a definite possibility that they'll offer a 460 Quad in the fall and a couple of months later the 460 Quad Tp. So don't fear, your new $600 driver can be obsolete in just a few months like all of us using our R5 Tp's.

I don't like the new R7s. For me they spin too much and just seem as if the ball falls right out of the sky no matter how I adjust the weights or what shaft is in it. For some, though, it is a great club but just not right for me. I preferred the Cleveland HiBore and the Titleist 905R to the TM R7 425 or 460.

Interestingly we heard here that the TM R7 460 will have a TP version now. Gig John Daly plays it.

i agree with steelman the new r7's are not impressive to me at all...the original r7 was LAME until they decided to add some decent shafts in the Aldila's...even then the r7 wasnt WORLDS better than other clubs...

R7's, R5's 425's 460's...I'm getting overwhelmed by it all. So much to choose from!

My r7 tour is not going anywhere. I gave th r5 tp tour a run this last week and it didn't do anything diff other than spinn alot more. I feel the the orginal r7 tpt tour is just as good if not better than the 425 or 460.

I have been waiting for the r7 460 tp 8.5 since March. I got interested in movable weight technology because I got frustrated with lead tape. It just seemed obvious that eventually TM would do with the 460 what they did with every other club and I was willing to wait for the biggest possible thing. However, I was switching to X-stiff shafts at the time and to pass the time until the r7 460 tp came out, I bought a Cleveland Launcher comp 9.5 with aldila nv-65 x-stiff for $200 new and it is so nice that I not really even that concerned about the r7 460 tp anymore, even though I will buy it when it comes out.

A friend demoed one of the r7 460 drivers Saturday and had it out at the club. 10.5, regular shaft.

 

The thing is a rocket launcher compared to my G2, plain and simple. It is much heavier due to the cartridges they had in the head. It was set up for neutral, The heavy cartridge was in it near the hosel. Therefore making it much heavier than my G2.

 

If money was no object, I would buy one in a heartbeat. Hopefully by the Fall, these will be down in price after what I've read in the previous posts. Right now, they can be had on the Bay for around $325-$350 shipped. Come October, if these are down to less than $300, I'll buy one then.

 

Great club, tremendous ball flight and much more forgiving than my current driver.

 

Now the waiting game begins, surely that price will fall when the leaves begin to this Fall. In the meantime, I think I will go invest in some lead tape for my G2 and tinker with getting the weight similar to what this r7 was at today.
