he was dealing with prime Ernie, prime Phil, and prime Tiger...

the fact his 04 season isn’t more appreciated is criminal....

ernie needed 5 strokes that year to have 3 majors....

vijays swing was and is outstanding....

just depends on how yoU look at it. I never saw tiger before thanksgiving gate live. So to me , he moves the needle now more than any other player. So it’s still on. The fact that it’s less now than then doesn’t mean it’s over. To me.

I never even thought to consider that time period, just goes to show different strokes for different folks. Thinking about it now, I’m going to stick with my original position that it wasn’t the Tiger era.

Tiger was hardly unbeatable in 2004. That's when he was in the middle of changing his swing and he only won once that year. Not to take anything away from Vjay, he had an amazing year in 2004.

Tiger had a couple of valleys during the 1997 to 2009 streak, 2004 being one of them, but I just mean that was still when he really was still the king

I remember when Vijay was going to pass him, people were shocked it was actually happening. It would have been like the Jazz beating the Bulls

I don’t know. He’s still contending in and winning majors. I think as long as you currently hold a major title , you’re era is alive.

Wow, I saw the title of this thread and instantly wondered, "what was that tourney David Toms rolled everybody in?" Didn't think anybody else would care about or remember a short hitter with a great short game stomping everybody.

 

Davis Love's final round of the 03 Players comes to mind. Just blew everybody away that day.

Just one tournament. There are a few. Duval's players victory. Course played brutal that year. David Tom's. Yang because he had Tiger in his group. In a major.

For a stretch. Again, Duval's stretch was dominant. VJ in his 40's was rediculous.

Feel like people here forget how dominant Rory can be. He's become more consistent the last few years but he's also lost those tournaments where he would just run the field over.
