Here's the final scores of the Australian Ladies Classic. We got a 19 year old amateur winner. Congratulations to Stephanie Kyriacou on crazy -22 (69+63+69+65), 8 shots ahead of Ayean Choi who was second at -14. The LET has kicked off the 2020 season,as Joe mentioned above congrats to Stephanie on the win, pretty special tournament for her I would imagine.

LPGA'er Lauren Stephenson finished with her first top 5 as a pro (T5).

Anne Van Dam had a nice T5 finish as well, maybe Ann will show some of that on the LPGA tour this year..

Ayean Cho continues to showcase her game as well with a 2nd place finish.

Maria Fassi missed another cut.

ROK virus situation is getting much worse. Wonder if KLPGA ( or JLPGA) season will be impacted at all? There is little or no intl travel for these players but the countries aren't particularly large if there is an outbreak in some regions. Let's hope for the best.

According to the 2020 LPGA of Korea Tour wikipedia site, the Taiwan Women's Golf Open on March 12-15 (co-sanctioned with the LPGA of Taiwan) is cancelled because of the virus outbreak. My guess would be that there will be a number of players without a caddy so the tournament will allow measurement devices. Might also speed up play. The rules of golf allow sharing distance data with other players but is it considered unsportsmanship to not share the data one acquires with a range finder?

Congrats to Julia Engstrom on her first LET victory.

Solid T4 for the 17yr old Atthaya Thitikul and the 16yr old Pia Babnik with a T7 in her pro debut. The youth movement was strong this week.

Not taking shots at the LPGA because the LPGA is awesome. However, I'm starting to think that the KLPGA talent is perhaps deeper than LPGA. I think a lot of the KLPGA players are good enough for LPGA, but just prefer to play on KLPGA rather than LPGA. I follow the LPGA tour a lot, but of late been following a lot of KLPGA players. The talent is off the charts for a lot KLPGA players mainly due to the high level of instruction in Korea. Korea is producing high quality players. Just an observation.

I wouldn't disagree. With two very well run feeder series, the KLPGA has quite a program going. With plenty of tournaments, the best certainly rise to the top by playing full schedules. While a number of players rise to the top on the LPGA, I'm sure a lot more players could easily make a good living on the LPGA as mid-pack players. However, with decent purse sizes, and limited travel, it doesn't make a lot of sense for a mid-pack player to shlep around the world on the LPGA when they could net the same winnings on the KLPGA given the reduced expenses.

That said, there are top players who show up for a few LPGA tournaments each year, and miss the cut, or wind up in the middle of the pack. Of course it's just one or two tournaments, so its very likely the players are just having an off week. However, after a few years you'd expect them to rise to the top once or twice. Bo Mee and Ha Neul come to mind.
