Jack Nicklaus &Quintero??

Saw this posted on the main forum asking about "The Flag", a private co-op of courses apparently affiliated with Jack Nicklaus. Although not named, the photo of the Arizona course is obviously #9 at Quintero. It says coming in 2020. I wonder if Quintero will try fully private again.

Supposedly the courses in AZ are one that is being renovated and one being built new. I know there were plans for a second course by Norman at Quintero back in the day but not sure if the original is being renovated.

 

It would fit with their model but there’s still just nothing out there.

Are caddies available?

Yes, caddies will be available at all locations and courses. Players are encouraged to walk to maximize the course experience.

They could do it like Scottsdale National used to and have caddies that drove you up the hill on a couple of holes. I'm not sure if SN still does this but I always found it funny when I played there. It was just the one hill that was steep.

You’re right. I just looked at 5be aerials and the green to tee walks wouldn’t be as bad as I thought. Just a couple severe uphill hikes to tee boxes. Other thoughts from the aerials and my memory of playing... “Interesting” bunkering... 3, 8 and 9 are pretty terrible from a design standpoint.

Don't forget about the 1.5 mile trek from the "clubhouse" (which I recall basically being a doublewide trailer) to the first tee.

I wonder if they will ever build a new clubhouse next to the first tee and range. An aerial shows a large cleared pad for a foundation, but it's been like that for 10+ years.

They used to have a nice temp clubhouse right behind the range when it was private. I was told that the land for the course and the clubhouse went to different parties and that’s why they had to move to the temp one at the bottom of the hill.

Nicklaus had nothing to do with Quintero unless he bought it.

It would seem that this is now delayed until 2022. Does it ever actually happen?
