Your history - more drivers or more putters

Putters vs drivers.

Where has your money gone?

For me putters. Had far more though my time in golf than drivers. I have about seven putters laying about right now but only two drivers and one of those is an old j33 head without a shaft. (It’s a someday project).

I don't change clubs very often, but I've definitely had more Drivers than putters. Started out with a Mizuno T-Zoid, then moved to a Taylormade R580, a Taylormade Burner, an R15 and the current Callaway GBB Epic. During that same time, the putters have been the starter (Wilson Harmonized), and the current Rife 2 Bar Hybrid. I've tried a few other putters over the years, but nothing has knocked the Rife out of the bag.

Putters, but I change drivers more frequently...how does that make sense?

When I change putters I will go through 7-10 of them until I find my bride. Then I stick with my bride for a while. I've had 2 brides...an old scotty newport beach studio stainless. Took about 10 putters to find it and then played it for like 12 years. Current bride is a spider tour plumbers neck. It's been in the bag for 1.5 years now. Took about 8 putters to get to it, including a somewhat long term relationship with a 2ball fang.

Since 1996 I think I've had 10 drivers total. 4 in the last 4 years.

I have purchased more drivers than I have putters. However I have more putters at my disposal than drivers. A big part of that is until recently all of my clubs have been inherited and my dad bought a bunch of putters when we started playing. I've purchased a couple drivers because at my home course on the lone par 5 there's a creek that was at driving range. I had a driver that was probably from a no name box set and I wanted to upgrade so I could clear the creek. I got a Taylormade r7 superquad and it performed well for me, but I was slightly worried about having a now 13 year old driver, so I was testing out some newer drivers for research and the sales clerk found a Taylormade r1 in the clearance bin for $20. I am hoping to game that this year.

I see a lot less putters available 2nd hand than I do drivers. I assume part of that is when someone finds a good putter they try to hold onto it, and probably part is how much money you can get by trade-in.

Drivers for sure. Ive only used 5 putters over 20 years of golf. I should have kept my previous putter, but of course I sold it to fund my next putter....

Drivers by far, even though I have more putters than drivers at this time, I tend to change drivers every 2 years or so, putters, however, I don't tend to change often, since it's more of a "once you find it, why change it" type thing, my current gamer (Scotty) is staying in the bag for a long while, my current driver (G LST) is also staying in for a while (I do have the G400 LST and G410 LST heads), I get better overall performance with it than the other 2...

DRIVER: Callaway AI Smoke TD 10.5*, Ventus TR Blue 6TX at 45"
3 WOOD: Callaway Paradym HL 16.5*, Diamana Flower Band White, D+ 82X Flex, tipped 1" at 42"
7 WOOD: Callaway Paradym 21*, Tensei AV white 75g S Flex, tipped 1" at 41"

IRONS: Callaway Apex MB 7-10, CB 4-6 -- DG TI S400

WEDGES: Callaway JAWS Raw 50, 54, 58 -- DG TI S400
PUTTER: SC Phantom 5, Stability Shaft, 33.25", Garsen Quad Tour grip (Toulon Chicago as back up)
BALL: Callaway CT X (current gamer), Srixon Diamond, -ProV1X and ProV1

Deffo drivers for me. Always looking for a blaster, especially as i'm getting older and starting to lose distance. Used to get the yips with a putter anyway so it did'nt really matter which flatstick i used. Tried everything to try an escape route. Think the only thing i did'nt go to was a long left handed backstryke with one eye closed.

It’s definitely drivers but not in a massively excessive way I wouldn’t say.

Since getting into golf seriously, I have had 9 drivers and 7 putters over the space of 22 years or so nothing excessive at all I wouldn’t say.
