2020 TaylorMade SIM and SIM Max drivers (in hand photos, M5/M6 comparison pics)

Heres my results with Sim max 9 velocore Black 6X 44.5” D2 versus my year old gamer TS3 9 velocore blue 6S 45” D2. About 20 shots with each and no drops. I’m still amazed with the consistency and forgiveness of the sim max. I ordered the 10.5 just to get spin a tad higher.

I loved the TS3 but it would get squirrelly fast.

Hoping these results translate to the course!

Where do plan to place it in the track? What's your shot shape and what's your consistent miss with sim currently?

I only got to hit it once before the lock down here. Planning on half way between middle and heel. Normally play a fade usually never miss left. Atleast thats how I like to play golf eliminate the left side

Have lots of new clubs sitting upstairs I havent been able to try out. T100-S and Sim Fairway as well

Great. I play a fade too. I put the 10g in the heel and have a 4g pretty close to the "center" position. Have found it to be great. I'm contemplating trying the 13.5 just to see if all the weight in 1 spot will be better.

Let me know how that weight works out once you are able to try it.

I had similar set up when I tried it and produced a nice slight fade. so assuming 13.5 in that spot should be pretty much the same

We are locked down here until 5/4 as of now. Im sure it will be extended

Went and got fit for a driver about a month ago...first time in my life. I had a SIM head available to me, so the fitter used that as a starting point. I've always been a high spin player guilty of hitting tall ballooning drives. With that information in mind, the fitter had me try five different shafts. Based on the results of the fitting session, a SIM with an Oban Black was the best all around possible setup for me. Four rounds with it in the bag and I've never been more confident in a driver than with this one. Its absolutely point and shoot, and its easily the best equipment move I've made for my game in a long time. Never played Taylormade drivers before this one, and I'm absolutely impressed.

Just chatted with TM and they will be selling the back weight for the Sim, but no date has been set. I need one for my Max D playing it at 44.5 with a bunch of lead tape.

I hear you brotha!! I have 5 strips of lead tape but i feel like the way i have them distributed right now is working well for my swing so im curious if it makes a difference where you put the tape?

Toe side will help produce fade spin. Heel side - draw spin.

You have a bit more toe than heel but you're pretty close to even. With that tape distribution you can use the front weight to dial in a consistent miss.

Yup thats what im going for! I love that im able to aim down the left side with this driver and still able to release hard and right now i know its gonna hold that line or fade back. I have not hit a slinging duck hook yet. I was struggling with a big fade/slice when i first got this but as soon as i figured out i can release hard and not have to hold it off to cut the ball my driving game became easier!

I have it in upright lie with the 10g weight in the heel and a 4g weight centered. To hit it left, I have to make a terrible swing. I can draw it all I want. But it's like you said, fire away and left isn't in.play. And it's deep too. Just a great driver.

I had the sim in 9.0. I loved the look and feel, but trajectory was too low didn't spin it enough. I now have the sim max... its fantastic!

Did you try the SIM 10.5 before jumping to the Max? Obviously that would have brought up spin and trajectory as well......

I did not. I liked the faster ball speed from 9 degree head. At the end of the day, I didn't need adjustability so I went with the more forgiving head in 9.

Is the max as fade bias as the regular sim?

It doesn't seem that way so far. Another bonus for me.

Depends on how fade biased is defined. If you mean CoG right of center then we don't really know. If you mean how much gear effect will impart fade spin IF the CoG is right of center then yes.

We won't know for sure until the other site's CoG and MOI report later this year.

I had a SIM 9* head for about 3 rounds. I could not keep it from the right side to save my life. A month later got a SIM max 9* head, using the same shaft and it’s night and day difference for me. Straight bombs and I can actually control it. In my opinion the MAX is not fade bias or at least not nearly as much.

Good to know if I don’t get along with the Sim would probably move to the max. Also debating going to D type and lofting down to open the face up

sim IMOP is a very very fade bias club , like the old SFTP 2.0 LCG v3 , I literally I have to throw it from the top to hook it , straight is stomping on it , normal ball flight is power fade

Yes, same here. Had the regular sim, but it was very low shin and fade bias. Sim max is slightly fade biased IN MY HANDS, but in a good way. I can turn it left, but it is a reliable slight fade. Very forgiving and long.
