The G.O.A.T Putter by theputtingengineer

Recommended Posts

Nope, not the only one. It's just that very few people are aware that he made two putters and that the gamer we've all come to love was the second putter.

Scotty Cameron is a story teller. I wouldn't trust a word that came out of his mouth about something that happened 20 years ago.

I love his putters, but he's big on mythology and marketing.

Edit - I just rewatched that video. "It was going to rust in those spots that I milled." Are you kidding me? 303 Stainless isn't going to rust. Dude is straight up full of crap.

So are these available anymore?

Though much is taken much abides;
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

Wonder if he still uses the 4* of loft , I am going to assume so.....interesting conversations

Just a note GSS is a “trademark” by aschunet , not a patent on a super secrete steel grade.....No magic in that GSS vs plain old 303 , just the hands of the guy rolling it.

I cannot believe there is no talk about this putter on here as it gaining a ton of attention on Instagram. The putter is supposedly made to be an almost exact replica of Tiger's famous Newport Tri sole. It features a GSS 326 gram head, a Kbs CT Tour putter shaft, and is to be installed with a ping blackout grip just like the one Tiger has been using throughout his career. The stock specs are also identical to Tiger's with the putter having a loft of 4 degrees and a lie of 70 degrees and a length of 35 inches. The putter has caught already so many people's attention that there is a second batch of putters available to pre order starting on June 3rd for a price of $400. I would love to hear if anyone on here has already ordered there's and when it comes in to tell us what your initial thoughts are. I want to give tremendous props to the designer of this putter as I think it is a genius idea and could not come at a better time. Like who on here doesn't want to play Tigers exact putter?

Who here has it and want to sell it? I'm here asking for a Christmas miracle.

Help me out and I'll love u forever.

Thank you.

Cheers

Been reading this forum and clearly you have an agenda, since you keep stating the presumed Tiger putter specs as fact. No one knows anything. Badds poked holes in your "facts" and the ever changing grip weight is an interesting point as that will directly impact swing weight.. Regardless of what anyone believes, we can only go off of what's published.

In 2016 Golf Digest published an article on Tiger Woods putter, be it true or false, it's not my place to claim fact or fiction. They are a reputable media outlet for golf. Here is the link to the article: https://www.golfdigest.com/story/all-the-details-on-the-scotty-cameron-putter-tiger-woods-will-use-this-week

I pasted the excerpt for easy reading:

"Woods’ Cameron is made from German stainless steel and is 35.25 inches long with a standard lie angle. At one point, Woods had 1/4-degree of loft added to the putter to bring it back to its standard 4 degrees. In this era of somewhat heavier flat sticks, the club’s 326 grams is a touch on the lighter side, although its wingweight of D7 is pretty much standard for a blade putter. The club’s markings include a single sight dot and a red "cherry dot" on both the face and in the back cavity. The putter also has a blank sole, with "Tiger" engraved on the left bumper and "Woods" on the right bumper. The club features a Ping grip with the “Ping” name blacked out and was re-shafted twice over its first 10 years."

Based on your previous posts, I know you will refute the evidence provided. So, I know I am wasting my time.

Now, since I played a part in building the GOAT putters to the exact specs above, turns out their data measures out. We made the heads to 326g, and at 35.25" and the swing weight came in at D7 or very close to it.

Regardless of specs, they are beautiful putters and are very fun to play with, and resemble the putter we have all come to love.

I am very well aware of what GSS stands for. I deal with german manufactures every day and they all laugh at the idea of GSS and what it means in the golf world when I tell them. Its plain regular stainless steel. And it is just a Trademark from Scotty, Im looking at his trademarks as I write this.

In the end, I dont care. What bothers me is that they are "defending" it by saying how hard it was to come by, and how lucky they were, and how lucky we should be that they managed to find this magic material. In that case, my company should be super lucky to have all our HUNDREDS of machines made in Germany by German Stainless steel. God, we were lucky finding all that GSS for our machines...

Sorry, I was not being smart, just thought you were unaware of the designation.

I was actually unaware that he (Scotty Cameron) has GSS trademarked; I always thought that was just a myth and still find it hard to believe that such a generic term could be trademarked. I think he would have trouble defending it legally as it is just an abbreviation

I agree about the whole GSS being super soft and special thing is just so much gobs****.  Last time I checked on the Brinell scale it was actually harder than regular 303 or 304 IIRC. I also don't know why so many people equate a soft feel with apparently improved putting anyway????? 🙂

My GOAT was milled in Germany, but I did ask Charles where the Arizonans were milled and he said China.

Both the GOAT and Arizonans are wonderful putters and will make it difficult to want anything more.

I told Charles, the two additional things I would be looking for are a long-stepped shaft (like Tiger has), and/or the Arizonan head milled from a block of copper.

I believe these are in the works and I am first on the list when he attempts these refinements. In the meantime, no need to look for another putter....

.....BTW my two Arizonans are numbers 3 and 4....
