Handicaps 10 - 18 - What type of irons are you playing?

11.4 - Have been playing Titleist 712 CB 4-7 + MB 8-PW w/ PX6.0 shafts; just picked up a set of Mizuno MP-69's, plan on putting them in play post-quarantine with the same shafts pulled from my old Callaway XR's

Moving from GI to players iron has helped my game significantly, dropped 2 strokes last summer and shot my personal best of 81. Practice seems much more efficient and there is a lot more learning to be gained from hitting less forgiving clubs, hopefully the improvement trend continues...

Ha. Trust me... getting it higher isn't a problem at the moment. I don't have the time to play much and I don't practice the right things :(

How do the i95's compare to the KBS Tours? I have the KBS in my T100's (and had them in my 755's before that) but I'm always looking for something new to tinker with...

I'm currently an 11 index and am playing Titleist 718 AP2 irons with Project X shafts. Great setup for my swing. My Titleist fitter was fantastic, initially I wanted to go to a blended set of CB and MB, but after my fitter put the AP2 in my hand, I was sold. The look is definitely a little chunkier than what I prefer, but I was consistently seeing about 3 to 4 more yards of carry with the AP2 vs the CB and MB.

I'm a 12 and I play 718 AP2 5-9 with a T-MB 4 iron and SM7 46, 50, 54, 58. I have a T-MB 3 Iron that I am building (just waiting for the shaft to get here) to replace my hybrid since I seem to hit long irons more consistent than hybrids.

Honestly, I probably should be playing something like AP1 or AP3 even...I don't play nearly as much as I did before kids so I am very inconsistent. More forgiveness may benefit me...but the AP2 are just so damn pretty, lol.

I'm an 11.5 right now, have hovered between a 10 - 15 for the last 20 years. went to the P790's 3 (NS Pro S .98)summers ago, but was getting really frustrated with the yardage variances, so put in the 760's (8,9,PW) (NS Pro .98 S). IMHO not the perfect solution as theyre SO different from the P790's. Looking at retooling this part of my bad next year, so thank you for this threat, great to see what everyone is playing. interesting that PXG isn't getting much love. Will definitely be going to graphite shafts.

New Level 1031

Also played 1026 and 902 but settled on 1031. You won’t find a better combination of feel (fully forged), playability (offsets, sole widths, stronger lofts, heel to toe length), and cost (most about $100 a club right now) than New Level.

I was using P790, Cobra Forged Tec, and Srixon 585 before finding New Level. If you like forged feel but want a game improvement iron that looks NOTHING like a game improvement iron....these things are amazing.

Also, pics don’t do it justice until you hold one. The detail on the milling is crazy. Lots of comments from people I play with.

13.5 handicap, Mizuno JPX-900 Forged irons. Absolutely love them!! Went from a set of Callaway Diablo Forged to these and it really helped keep me from overcooking the ball left.

Cobra King RAD 3 Wood Fujikura Motore X F3 Stiff (14.5 degree setting)
Mizuno CLK Hybrid (19 and 22 degree, I swap them out depending on the wind in the parking lot)

That’s the one thing I like about Mizuno’s as well. My miss is a pull and Mizuno’s by default, sit a little flatter than other oems.

It’s a shame these companies see no value in producing left handed clubs. ( I’m left handed)

A new start up called Haywood Golf in Vancouver BC Canada produces nice looking hollow body irons in both right and left hand.( check out their web site)

Not too surprising because the ratio of left handed golfers is higher in Canada.....they say it has something to do with hockey players being predominantly left handed.

TXG did a review of the Haywood irons...and They had nothing but praise for them, especially at the low cost...they compared very well with clubs twice their cost. ( check out the review on Utube....search TXG Haywood Golf)

When this CV issue is resolved....I will be going to TXG in Toronto for a fitting, and Haywood will be one of the clubs I’ll be trying!

I fluctuate between 6 and 8 and have since the late 1990's. I'm still gaming Ping I3 O-size 3-SW. Blue dots plus 1/2" with JZ stiffs. I'm on my 3rd set since 2000 and picked up a brand new set last fall that went into the bag last month.

I have tried to kick them, but I like the look, feel and ball flight of the I3's. I know my distances and have zero reason to change at this point except for new grips every 4 months.
