@Forged4ever ,
Bro??love the sense of humor, however in context, personally read that statement as it’s easy to observe what those great players did, much more difficult to teach or apply that. Praying you and yours are well ?

Thanks Brother, back at ya?

It was an excellent post by Freowho with many valid points and I know how he meant it, though when I read it, the vision that popped into my head was from back in the day, when Sam was down at the end of the line at Pete’s place hittin some lazy 6i’s and I was down about 2-3 spots and a couple of guys saddled up behind me, though watching Sam, and the one guy said to the other, “see how easy he swings. It’s easy. Just swing easy. It’s not that hard” ???

It was friggin hilarious on soooo many levels that I didn’t know where to begin and about that time the one guy who said it looked at me and I just shrugged and said “easy peezy,” lol

This just shows what a friggin dinosaur? that I am, lol??

I crack an “inside” joke and I’m the only one alive to laugh at it??

Easy Peezy?

Stay Well Bro?

Richard

Hey, Cans, I hope all’s well through these crazy days!!

H*ll, Bobby Clampett wrote a 288 page diatribe about that 2-4” along the swing path, along with a swing philosophy and a golf school.

He’s gone further teachin the swing than he did swingin the club himself as a Tour Pro(1980-1985) though he does have a Tour Victory(1982 Southern Open), which 99.25% of his fellow Professional Peers will never experience.

He came to Pittsburgh to see Pete at Sam’s behest in either 1984-1985, I forget, and he was a real nice guy and I felt badly for him cuz he was a basket case mentally and he was uber obsessive on having the “perfect” swing and his body AND hands being in the “perfect” position, regardless of where the ball went. To say that he was obsessive compulsive would have been a gross understatement.

I know that I joke a lot and am sarcastic however in all seriousness, he was one of the 2-3 guys that I felt truly sorry for cuz he had had a lot of success as an Am, however he went through some kind of mental transformation when he started Playin for Pay, and he could never get back to his mindset when he was just swingin, Playin, winning and having fun.

As he told Pete before he left Pittsburgh, he had hoped that his ability to swing a golf club would allow him to never have to hold a “job,” however the last 4-5 years had been the worst job that he could have imagined.

Anyhoo, he’s the man to see regarding “impact,” lolol

As RP can attest, NOT a Neal Lancaster fan for many reasons- not the least of which is the drivel he tried to peddle about being “self taught” when spent many hours having his sorry self taught by the gracious Mr. LB Floyd.

I remember the stories well, those are yours to tell if you so choose.

Based on my respect for you along with LB Floyd, and for those not familiar, that’s Raymond’s father, I put Lancaster in the “Putz” category, and I’m being kind here cuz I don’t want to use asterisks(***) to describe that category, lolol.

Have a Great Week Bro?

I can't say anything bad about Neal Lancaster. I used to work at a course where he would come to play with the pro during the Tour's off season. He was always friendly towards me, and told some funny stories. I obviously can't speak to experiences others have had with him, but mine were all positive.

Neat record, but only won once on the tour. Not really comparable to those two's career.

Op, I believe Chamblee is taking advantage of the lime light that he has right now. He has to stay relevant and for that, he has to ruffle some feathers. A lot of feathers. I like a lot of what he says and usually it is from the other side of the spectrum. He will be heavily critical at times compared to the other hosts but at least he doesnt shy away from it. He is that one friend who likes to speak his mind and although you dismiss most of what he says, he does ad some value to the conversation. As I have found, we all have our own opinions and as unwarranted or out of left field some or most of Brandle's are, he gets a reaction out of a lot of them. Very similar to Skip Bayless. I like how he is put in his place most of the time by those he irritates or those in the know. Just another day in the life of some one who wants to be in the discussion but is never talked about so he has to create discussion and controversy to be talked about.

"Just another day in the life of some one who wants to be in the discussion but is never talked about so he has to create discussion and controversy to be talked about."

Bingo...he is paid to stir the pot...so he stirs the pot. And by the way, this stuff is not spontaneous...it is discussed and rehearsed before hand in the production meeting to ensure maximum outrage. Many on here truly believe Brandel is some off-the-reservation renegade who is running amok. Nothing could be further from the truth. Ratings, baby, ratings.

Agreed. Brandel to seems very very well informed. That does not mean he is perfect or always right. But, he has done his research before forming an opinion.

Arnold Palmer said 'swing your swing', smiled, and drove away on his tractor. Chamblee says it in 2,565,000 words or so, pissing off half this website in the process.

Nobody has all the answers, and swing teachers who act like they do are charlatans. Chamblee is cutting a promo, every week, and people are biting. It's drawin' money, baby. WOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Well, my Tour Bud perused this thread and one, he knows Brandel pretty well from both a competitive standpoint on the course and also off of it, and says that he’s a great guy and not the “typical tea cup tour boy,” as he refers to quite a few of em, especially the younger ones, lolol

Secondly, while he sorta agrees with me regarding Brandel’s traipsing through the golf instructional book field, he totally agrees with me that the best book in this genre of the category(based off of Tour Boys’ swings) is Dr. Ralph Mann’s & Fred Baker’s seminal work, based of almost two decades of “scientific” analysis of over 100 Tour swings. I f*ckin looooove when guys insert the word “science” or any derivative of it as though this automatically elevates it to some immutable status cuz it’s based on “scientific” research, ESPECIALLY when one of the authors has “Dr.” in front of his name, lmao??GTFOH?. The icing on this rhetorical haute cuisine is the always disagreement ending, “its computer generated *sshole,” as though the combo of “science” and “computer” make the subject matter gospel and immutable??

The book, “Swing Like a Pro: The Breakthrough Scientific Method of Perfecting Your Golf Swing,” is pretty much THE immutable text on the “perfect” swing, lolol. My Bud’s wholehearted agreement is most likely due to the fact that his swing is one of those over 100 used??

The fact that it took almost two decades and the analysis of over 100 of the GREATEST swings on earth? to come up with this swing should by no means be a deterrent to the average, or even uber above average Player in attempting to emulate and “make their own,” nor will it be.

Ya see, if there is one thing that I’ve learned in 52 years in the game, it is when I visualize the average guy swinging on the line or course in my mind, it is not some bozo in cargo shorts, a muscle T or shirtless wailing away with bent arms and cupped wrists, nor is it a guy dressed like your average Tour Boy with an effortless textbook swing.

It is of Don Quixote, dressed in black slacks, pink shirt w/black AE golf shoes and a black visor chasing golf Teachers and golf instructional texts?around a range or a course, trying to, though never catching, much less integrating and implementing any of the swing knowledge that either has within them?

All joking aside, if ya prize yourself as having a legit golf book library, this text should most definitely be in it!! On Amazon, the hardcover(I believe that this is only way that it comes) can be had for .99 to $4.99. It’s a legit text!

As I could picture the cover and remembered that one of the co-authors was a PhD when I posted about it earlier, though I could not recall the title nor his name, and my Tour Boy Buddie? came through with the title, lolol. Thanks Bro?

So, bein the gumby *ssed individual that I am, I now like Brandel, as I actually agreed with many of his statements, however I just didn’t agree with his delivery modality, and he is very very good at what he gets paid lots of money to do, and that is to get *ssholes like me, whether I agree with him or not, to keep his name front and center, whether it be with the written, typed or spoken word.

My Bud said that actually, I am the “perfect” Brandel Chamblee fan, and with that, I said good night and hung up on him.

Sometimes my Bud, like Brandel, myself and most of the guys that I know, can be a d*ck?

Thanks for tolerating my rambling novellas and participating in the thread?

Stay Well My Friends?

RP

David Leadbetter is a true gentleman and has dedicated his life to the game he loves. He has a track record (Majors won; players ranked #1 ) that can be rivaled by who other than Butch ?

Leadbetter does not receive the credit he deserves.

I actually enjoy Brandel; but he deserved the DL rebuke.

Plenty of cheap shots in the rebuke and unlike Brandel's comments these from Leadbetter were targeted and personal. The open letter was petty.

Not sure why Leadbetter with such a great track record that he highlighted in his open letter took a general critique of coaching in a magazine Q&A so personally.

This whole story is very weird.
