SNELL GOLF BALLS??? anyone???

Is that right? When I used Snell Red, the yellow coating was quite tough. Wonder what changed!

Dean / Snell, I know the "always testing" mentality is present at Snell but, do you think there will be any new ball released or sales between now and the summer? Running low on my last batch and want to renew.

The MTB Red (TPU cover, produced in China) was a big deviation from the original and later MTB Black/X (cast thermoset urethane cover, produced in Nassau factory in South Korea). They may as well have had a different company stamp on them as they were that different.

i see. I liked the Snell Red when I used my Ping G30 irons. The GI irons and the higher spin on the ball definitely make a good ball for approach shots. Very controllable. Off the driver, the ball just climbed. Didn’t have the distance.

MTBx and new black though. I liked. Wondering what, if any, their successor is.

hello.. yes. we were expecting the X Yellow in house in early April, but the shipments have been delayed overseas. The new date they show now is suppose to arrive first week of May. Appreciate everyones patience on this. In MA yesterday, they shut down most places. I sent all my employees home and spoke to FED EX. I will come in each morning alone to pack all orders and FED EX will pick up every day. So hopefully we can continue get you the golf balls needed. Thanks and be safe..

Thank you Dean. I feel your pain too. I sell personal care items online and I sent my employees to work from home.

I come to work every morning and pack stuffs. Kinda makes me feel like the first time I started the business! Haha!

I hope we all can look at brighter side from this horrible disease and come out better on the other end.

Am I doing you more harm than good if I order now? Definitely want to support, but not sure how much work is ahead of you if you’re packing orders yourself.

Have you tried Nexgen Tour balls sold at Golf Partners stores in Japan? They are made at the same factory where Bridgestone makes their Tour B balls. The Nexgen Tour balls are identical to the BXS.

Admire your decision. Know lots of employers that have the technology to work remotely but aren't willing allowing it for some reason. Nice to see someone put their employees first.

Just had the chance recently to try the MTB Black and MTB-X. Compared them to my regular gamer the TM project(a)/tour response. Of the two I preferred the X. I naturally hit all of my shots really high and the MTB Black exaggerated that high ball flight to where I lost a considerable amount of distance, especially on my driver. The X definitely had a better ball flight. Both balls had plenty of spin on chip shots and good feel off the putter. I’m going to try the X a little more and see if it has a shot to dethrone my beloved Project(a).

Unfortunately I was in two car wrecks in a month, one t bone and got rear ended too so my neck is not good....or I’d be buying more of the X ball. For me it’s been as good as anything I’ve ever played.

That being said...it was reading this thread that made me try the Snell ball in the first place and it was Dean that sold me to be a customer. His recent comments about his company and his employees only solidifies that decision. Class act, great product and in my mind, a hall of famer in the golf industry.

MTB Black performed so well against my 6 hcp cousin's ProV1 in LV (b4 shutdown). Both bombed neck to neck.

The shipping delay doesn't matter to me since i can't play anyway. Courses in MD are closed and it is a crime to go to another state to play.

Correct. In general, harder is longer and softer is shorter; the testing data is very clear. And "feel" is mostly sound, with NO correlation to what the ball actually does; spin comes from the cover and outer layers, not the compression or sound.

If i was a cop i would just look for out of state tags in the parking lots of public courses. Not sure how exactly that would work though. Could a cop in MD got to WV to check the golf courses or would the WV cops do the checking for MD? I have no idea.

If you play the firmer ball you will adjust to it, benefits of it out weigh a softer feel... imo.

Had the chance to try the MTB and MTB-X out yesterday and came away impressed. Same sort of length I was getting with Pro V1-X off the driver and both balls felt softer than the Titleist without being mushy off the irons, wedges and putter. Good greenside spin more so with the X although the greens had just been sanded. I will probably grab 2 dozen of the MTB-X when they are in stock here in Australia at the end of the month.
