How much would you pay to play Augusta?

I'm surprised at some of these hypothetical numbers since they're so low. To me Augusta is such a mystical unoptainble thing where I'd normally have zero chance to play. I'd have to go 10k. It's a once in a lifetime chance. Pebble, St Andrews, no barrier of entry there.

If this was ever auctioned off to the public, I bet it would get up to $250,000 easily.

I'd take that 10K, take my wife on a 2 or 3 week all inclusive vacation in the Caribbean and play golf everyday and have many more memories than one round at Augusta. But hey, to each his own.

Yep. I'd take mine to the UK and/or Ireland, (I think if we were a lot younger tropical would be fun but most other folks would prefer to see us in sweaters, lol) but also do a nice through the bag fitting and update my clubs! (She got new ones last year!). I said earlier if my dad and daughter can't play I wouldn't likely be too interested, but I do wait for the out of the blue invite from Jack every year that never comes - like Linus sitting in the pumpkin patch. ;-)

Good luck playing golf everyday for 2-3 weeks in the Caribbean. One of the most beautiful places in the world collectively with some of the worst golf in the world.

You can play decent golf in the Bahamas and Dominican. But not for 2-3 weeks, all inclusive for 10k.

They're not mutually exclusive. The thread isn't what would you give up or trade to play Augusta or what you would do with someone else's money: it's what would you pay.

Would you rather is a completely different exercise. If someone is good with dropping $10k, I'd hazard a guess they're still taking the family on a nice holiday.

I've never had a problem over the last 30 years but I don't require high end golf courses to make me happy. If it has 18 holes a cold beer I'm good with it.

A story I heard in the real world. A guy paid $150,000 to play a Monday round during the Master week. Part of that money went to a former champion's charity, but most of them I guess went to a sport agency company or individual.

Just had this discussion the other day with a friend. I said $5k and he said $50k. He's far more well off than I am, but I still don't think I'd drop $50k...even if I was a lower level multi millionaire. That'd go against almost every piece of advice I've ever given my clients ? Not too mention there's so much I could do for $50k.

 

But if it's an open bidding war, I think it'd certainly be in the $100k per person range for charity.

Everyone saying $500 max is crazy. Heck I’d pay $500 for one of my buddy’s to play it just so he could come back and tell me the story!

There’s no way I could sit and watch the Masters every year knowing I could’ve played the course for $600 but I told them nope $500 was a hard limit!
