T-minus 14 days until Golf in Michigan. I think Friday May 1 is going to be a busy day at most of the Detroit area courses.

It's a good thing too, as my doctor told me the bad mojo and toxins that have built up in my liver have reached a critical level and if I don't golf soon, I will most certainly perish.

Has that been officially confirmed?

It has not been confirmed, but there are some very positive signs. Witless basically gave a strong hint this week and the metric they are most likely tracking is new cases. Michigan's new cases have leveled. Plus, she is getting a lot of heat from a lot of people, esp in small business. So, unless Michigan has a serious spike, I think we are on track for phase 1 on May 1. And there is no reason that outdoor activities would be delayed in phase 1.

I will try to talk with the two course managers I know (I work for them in the summer) and find out if they have heard any news. Anything I find out, I will report back here.

New York has a far greater number of cases than Michigan and they are allowing golf with some minor restrictions.

Ive been playing at my course for a few weeks now and pretty sure the courses are able to get away with it because no employees are required to work on site.

From Bridge Magazine today. Another confirmation that Whitmer is looking out 10 days, which puts us right around May 1. No confirmation yet on golf, but it's coming.

Hopefully we'll hear something good Friday. The updates we've received on re-opening anything so far have been pretty nonexistent.

Wwj 950 had a column from Skubick that said golf may be opening during her announcement tomorrow. Along with landscaping and the like.

Well, sort of. There is some confusion in the order. Apparently essential workers needs to be cleared up a little bit. And it's 1 per cart, but walking is ok.

I listened to all 42 minutes of Whitmer's PSA, so you don't have to. Zero additional information.

But, I put out a message to the team at a local Metro course and I expect to see a reply in the next day or two as they figure out what they are going to do.

I thought I read that carts are not an option at this point in time. It appears that you must walk instead of ride a cart?

Working on that question. As I understand it, and this is not fact, carts with one rider would be allowed, but as with many of the half-baked regulations during this fiasco, there is a question if it is allowed to have employees that can operate/offer the carts. Are these employees essential, non-essential, undefined? So, it's a problem.

It appears that carts are not an option right now. Crystal Lake and Cherry Creek open tomorrow.

Playing Metamora right now. Everyone is walking. So glad I bought a pushcart last month!

Metamora...not an easy course to walk. The green on the second hole drives me nuts when it's quick (which seems to be always). Love that course, but I never shoot low on the front 9.

I think I'm going to walk Crystal Lake on Monday. 18 bucks and about as easy as it gets to start a new season.

That workout is just, well, too much work for me. It would mess up my swing mojo!

I do like Metamora. It's a good mix of some easy holes and a bunch of not easy holes. Played it twice last year and on one of the rounds they must have just rolled them because they were crazy quick.

A course I used to dislike near Metamora was Devil's Ridge, but I got in a couple of rounds there and I've actually taken a liking to is. It has some goofy holes, but it's fun.

Yeah I appreciate Devils for what it is. I played there twice in late March before courses had to close. Not sure where I'll play next, depends on when OU opens but I definitely plan on playing 4-5 times a week for the foreseeable future.
