I gave it a 4 because I haven't had enough rounds to know for sure if it deserves a 5. The ball performed very well for me in my two rounds. It's a comparable "tour" type ball. Long distance, spins well, good feel. I put one of my "swing for the fences" moves on this ball and hit a huge giant slice, so it's not a miracle worker to straighten out your tee shots, not that I would expect it to be. The course was wet and soft so I didn't get the best conditions to really determine how much this thing spins, but I was out late practicing, dropping 3-4-5 balls in the fairway and this thing was behaving just like my prov's from 155 yard 8 irons (6ish feet from the ball mark for me) and 40-60 yard half swings with the wedges. The ball is a little longer off the irons than my prov's. Probably 5 yards longer on a 135 or 155 yard iron shot.

I picked up a dozen and have played 3 rounds with them so far. For me they spun way too much. Which is odd since I always play a V1x. I lost 15 yards on my drives and 5 yards on my irons because of the backspin. This ball caused balooning with my woods and irons. This ball is not for me, but if someone is looking for more spin from tee to green this might be the ball for you, esp at the going price.

For me this is the best "soft ball" I have tried. I love the feeling of a soft ball off the irons on full swing shots. This ball spins more than a proV1 for me off full wedges and a little less off 1/2 swing and lower pitch and chip shots. I didn't note any change in distance with the big dog vs. the ProV1. Previous attempts with soft balls (precept lady, laddie, solo,et al) yielded unpredictable fly and roll but the Tour Fire has been very consistent. My driver swing speed hovers around 95 so I can understand why the folks with swings speeds over 100 might not like the resultant high spin. ProV1 has been my go-to ball for several years but I'm changing to the Tour Fire guy for a while.... Hopefully Maxfli/Taylormade will not discontinue this model in a year.

Bought a 3 pack of these a while ago after reading a review and bought 2 dozen after I lost/wore out the first 3. For the money this is a great ball, no distance difference off the tee but a good feel off all clubs. I don't spin the ball that well so spin to me is not an issue. I will say I'm less than impressed with the durability, I've worn out more balls than I've lost but for the price I still save over a ProV1.

If you like the ProV1 but your wallet doesn't give these a go.

I also found these to balloon - and I have never, ever been able to do this with any ball. So while the first time was very cool to watch, it became less so as my driver distance decreased accordingly.

Really wanted to like this ball too. Back to the drawing board boys....

These are the EXACT SAME as the new Burner TP with a different paint-job. These are on clearance for $20/dozen (or less). So if you like the Burner TP (I do. It's AWESOME, especially for $25)...which makes the Tour Fire an even better deal right now! You can buy an extra gallon or 2 of gas because you got a dozen of these...instead of ripping yourself off by buying the Burner TP...well, at least while they're still around on clearance.

RBZ TP 9.5* RIP'd NV 65
TM R11s - 14* - RIP Alpha 70
TM Rescue '11 TP - RIP 85

Anyone have any idea what happen to the Tour Fire's? Man those were such a sweet ball for the $. If anyone has any idea how I might be able to obtain some new, not used, ones that would be great.

Thanks

BTW this is my first post and I love this site after accidentally finding it doing some GPS device research.

The Maxfli name was sold to Dicks Sporting Goods by Taylormade, while Taylormade held onto the patents for the golf balls and thus the tour fire are no longer made. You can find them at Dick's on sale for a good price still. At least in my area. The Taylormade Burner TP ball is considered to be the upgraded tour fire with some small changes.

I'm probably a 15 handicapper (but don't keep one) who swings at ~ 90mph with the driver and flights the ball very low. That said, I play stiff shafts and a [2008] Pro V1 vs. mid-tier balls because of how I flight the ball. I would love a higher ball flight on all of my clubs if I didn't lose distance by doing it. I don't hit the ball far enough as it is...

For me, if the Tour Fire is the same ball as the Burner TP, I won't be buying the TP. Driver height was higher compared to normal, which is great if the ball didn't 'float' on me all the time. Same thing on irons (5 yards shorter), same thing on wedges, same thing on chips and pitches. These balls remind me why I stopped playing the NXT Tour - no control, and they float something awful in the wind. The ball's like a marshmallow, and the durability is right up there as 'bad' with the '07 TP Black. (I can get through a round with two Pro V1's but three holes per ball with a Tour Fire.)

I don't mean to be TOTALLY discouraging, and, if you want to try them, Dick's had them for $15 a dozen. Hope they work for your game better than they did mine!
Darn, can't believe I missed them at Dick's. I really like this ball.

Does anyone know if one of the newer Maxfli balls matches up with the Tour Fire?
You didn't, but they are running out. Tried it, loved it, just grabbed a couple of boxes myself.
Best ball for the $$$ imo.
