Orange Whip Junior?

Anyone use it for JUNIOR's? Thoughts? I found several threads from adults but wondering if anyone has used with their juniors.

My kid had one. It is great for stretching and developing rhythm and tempo.

Thanks for feedback. Do you feel it helped at all with balance? For some reason, my son is having a very hard time keeping balance throughout the swing - tendancy to fall forwardish / toward target . Obv something to work on with swing, but not seeing instructor right now so thinking this could be a helpful feel tool to help with all that.

Yes I do. Helps with balance, feel, and learning how to lag the club. I think it is worth it. My kid has the Skilz Gold Trainer now. Basically the same product and less expensive than the Orange Whip.

I would think stability discs would be better for that perhaps.

Was reading an article the other day that said stability discs were a waste of time.

Having used a similar product when I had a bad sway in my swing... I would disagree I guess, but everyone's mileage is going to be different :)

That said if you get disc that are too small for your feet or do not support your weight, then I could see how they would be useless.

Chris Finn Par4Success. Big time trainer that writes articles for WRX and appears on PGA Tour Radio. Big Time Fitness Guru for golf. He has a video on it as well. Stability Discs do not work for the purpose of making you more balanced or stable in your golf swing. There is no research saying it will help.

From reading the article I understand what Chris is saying about developing core areas.. but where they helped me was helping identify where my instability issues were coming from (in my case sway). From there it was a matter of focusing on better mechanics in my swing to rectify what I was doing wrong. I was not working on improving something that already was working... in my case I was working on fixing something that was broken. Also and maybe this is the real difference, I was not working on fitness training or correcting physiological balance issues, but on swing mechanics.. to me each of these are intrinsically different animals. :)

we had one and now have moved to the next size. Definitely great after a 2 hr drive to a tournament and stretch. A stable golf swing is a product of a strong core, we have seen a lot of value with box jumps and high knees kind of exercises. Mostly strengthening the hip flexors per the workout instructor. The whip wont help with that.

Jumping is super important. My son has at last measurement a 20" vertical jump. I don't know if that's good or not but he can pretty easily touch a 9' rim. Maybe I'll pop it up to 9.5' and see if he can reach that today.

@leezer99 anything that strengthens the hip flexors and lower back - crab walks, basketball, soccer -- just good for longevity. Not all kids need a personal trainer to help them with that. :)
