Please critique my swing!!

Hi Everyone,

Just a bit of background. I am currently a 15 Cap and trying to get to high single digits by year end. I have had a bad habit the last two years of pull hooking the ball. I think its the tilt of my shoulders on on downswing.

Been using the winter to watch Monte's efficient Swing video (which has some great stuff in it) and will continue to take lessons once we are back on the course. If anyone could offer up some advice (and subsequent drills to correct) it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I’m no pro but it looks like you fire your hips hard from the top which gets your arms way behind the body forcing you to flip it. The flip combined with the strong grip is causing your hooks. I like the strong grip but maybe try feeling like you start the downswing with the arms. Good luck!

Are you left or right hand dominant? Looks like you stand on the wrong side of the ball... meaning you're not a lefty. Improving ball striking can be hard if it's unnatural

Thanks. I think you hit the nail on the head where my hips are shooting out way to quickly on the downswing. I’ll try starting The downswing with the arms so it’s not so out of sync

The sequence is fine. Your clubhead is dead shut to the swing arc.

Looking really shut at the top. Compare to a pro's swing, like Adam Scott (well, flipped over the vertical axis lol), and you'll see his face is way more open, almost approaching parallel to his arm. I do this same thing too, and I miss greens to the right very often with my irons. I would play around with different thoughts on the range and see what works in getting you to a better position at the top.

Your takeaway also goes a little inside, but honestly as long as you get to the right position at the top, I don't know how much the takeaway matters. Mine has always been wonky, I feel like it's a low priority issue to fix, something to look at once you've addressed other issues. I'm sure your coach could give you advice too!

Just a quick update. I have managed to take my cap down to a 12 from a 14 (been playing lots of golf). My main problem is not being able to find the consistency in ball striking. Ill have a great day on the range and then come back next day and its all gone. Any tips for that?
Also, I am trying not to be so flat on my backswing but another issue is I feel that I am chicken-winging it at impact. Ive still even watching and re-watching @MonteScheinblum efficient swing but seem that I cannot find it. If anyone can take a look and give some advice it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You are over swinging. Take more club and focus on solid contact. Your backswing is very outside and your are pulling the ball badly. Hit some controlled lunch shots and see how that goes.
