Replace My 3 Wood!

Looking for some input from the forum please

I am looking to move on from my Epic Flash SZ three wood

I have loved it, but I am starting to realise that its deeper face (assuming that is classed as a deeper face for a three wood these days?) means that I do struggle with it sometimes off the fairway

A bit about my game, I play off of 5, swing speed is about 106-108mph with driver

I tend to hit the ball a little low, but this is mainly because I currently deloft the club at impact, something I am working on changing.

I tend to use my three wood off the tee quite a bit, I like having a three wood that goes quite some distance, just in case my driver isn't working.

Like I say, my biggest gripe with the Epic is just it is a bit chunky? But when you catch one out of the screws, it is hard to beat! And very long!

I did hit the Sim Titanium before lockdown and that was impressive! Obviously we are now in lockdown and I can't hit anything! So looking for some input from you guys on what to be looking at?

Maybe the new Cobra? If so, which one? The Ping? Titleist?

I am still playing the M5 titanium fairways. They are great, and for me the only place where I see the SIM ti beating the M5 is in the fact that the adjustable weight in it can gather dirt and grass on fairway shots.

I find Ping G410s one of the easiest to hit.

I have the 2016 M2 and it's a bit of a deep face but I will continue to play it until I can't find one anymore. Goes easily 280-290 off the tee. From what you stated I would try the G410 LST. I hit that thing and high bombs off the turf and still crazy long off the tee. That would be my choice if I wasn't in love with mine.

G410 or SIM Max. Sleeper pick would be F9... I think it looks better than botht he G410 (little triangular looking, turbulators are yuck to me) and SIM Max looks yeeeeewj behind the ball to my eye for some reason. The F9 was very pleasing to hit last year and you can pick it up probably for a steal right now.

If you replace it with a smaller head, will you still like it off the tee? I hit my 3w off the tee more than I do the ground... so I like the deep face. What is the next club in your bag? Might be better to pick up a 5 wood for fairways and leave your 3w be.

The Cobra Tour options are really good and easy to hit off the deck with the rails. I had to go with a higher launch shaft than I'm used to in order to get my ball flight higher (had a Proforce V2 and Whiteboard at first, but went to the NV 2KXV blue).

I love the Sim fairway. I went with the Max over the Titanium. This is the first fairway wood I have where I really feel comfortable hitting it off the tee when I need to.

I love what you have in the bag already but there are so many great options out there G410 LST, TS2/3, Cobra Speedzone, ST200 are some good ones to start with.

That 13.5* Sub Zero is more like a 2 wood than a 3 wood. I'm sure it is a beast off the tee! If you want a smaller profile to help hitting off the deck, I would look at the Titleist TS3 first. It has a nice traditional shape with a great feel. It will not be better than your Sub Zero off the tee, but I don't think anything will be able to compete with it since it is basically a mini driver.

Smaller profile would be TS3 and I'll throw out the TEE CBX 119, super compact profile and why I play it.

I have been playing a 15 degree 917 F2 for a year now and love it. Might still be able to find a new or very gently used one for relatively cheap. Its a great club both off the tee and down, IMO so that gets my vote.

Give the Callaway Super Hybrid in 17* a shot. It's truly a cannon that is replacing my 3 wood.

Ah yes, the age old 3w question. Also the reason why so many pros stick with certain fairway woods a good bit longer that drivers, wedges, or irons. You see, you are asking the club to do two *somewhat different things: low spin and long off the tee, high spin (easy to elevate) and predictable distance off the turf. Asking the same club to be really good at both jobs is something of a difficult thing to do. So, when you do find that club, stick with it, never let it go, and if if you do replace it in some fit of madness, keep old reliable in the trunk so that it is never too far to grab and stick in the bag for the back 9!

I have the Ping G410 3 wood and hybrid been looking for a 5 wood also. I think it's what you are looking for, very easy to hit.

Cobra F9 with Diamana BF has been money for me. High ball flight for sure

I just really liked the feel and look at address of it from off the tee. I had been playing an XR Pro 3 wood and loved it off grass, but never been one who's super comfortable with a wood off the tee, but the Sim Max just felt good from both the grass and the tee. And also, if being totally honest, I was really having a hard time warming up to the idea of a $400 fairway wood haha. Although it would have been nice to have the adjustability along with ease of swapping out shafts.
