I agree. I've hit a few in the water, but I probably haven't hit anything wild off the tee since about 1996. Okay, slight exaggeration, but not that far off . . . :)

Same here. With a few exceptions, the rough on tour now is far, far more playable now than at any other time in the history of the game.

Dunno if you'll see more games exposed, or simply more fairways hit.

I think not having fans on the course won't have such a negative impact as most seem to be implying here. The course will be quiet. No more cheering from the gallery. The players won't know what is going on except for the advert boards through out the course, if they are put up at all.

KFT doesn't always have a ton of fans and they still go low on an empty track. Seen it many times on the PGA Tour Canada as well.

I think the lack of galleries will have an impact, just not the same way Brooks is describing. He's focusing on lost balls for some reason.....to me, these would be the factors that would make the biggest differences:

No gallery to have a ball land into and stop it. You'll see more kicks and bounces off toward whatever is on the side where they missedNo grandstands to have balls deflect off of and back into play. Also no drops because of grandstands in the way (sometimes this gives the player a COMPLETELY different shot than what they originally had)Not as much trampled down grass in the rough. As some have said, they could opt to keep the rough shorter but this could go both ways - shorter grass could lead to more balls bouncing and rolling towards trees and hazards (because again....no crowds to magically stop the ball).Either way I think it'll be interesting and not affect scores all that terribly much. I for one am looking forward to it

I think it's going to be wild to see some of these courses without the patron setups. No crowds, no grand stands, no concession stands/tents. There's going to be lots of TV shots where you're going to be able to see multiple holes behind players, etc. It'll definitely be interesting.

I think on tour tournament play conditions with the lack of a gallery, you will see more time spent looking for balls, I would not be surprised to see slower rounds. I also think that while these guys are really really good. That playing on a course with thousands of people lining the fairways acts in many ways like bumpers on a bowling alley. They hit wild shots just like the rest of us so you will see more rescue shots and punch outs.

Definitely agree.....and honestly I'll welcome that. Not because I enjoy watching these guys struggle but just because it's fun watching them hit shots that you don't too often see them needing to hit.

In regards to the lost balls, I think it will just come down to how many spotters they'll have available. If they intend to keep that to a bare minimum (which is probably the safe option), then yes....definitely agree that you will see the occasional lost ball in the rough.
