What era in golf holds a special place in your heart?

I have always been partial to that 10 year run from 85 to 95. It had everything. Jack and Arnie were still in the mix. The European Invasion was in full swing. John Daly's PGA Championship out of no where. Freddie getting his Green Jacket. Tom Kite winning a major. The Great White Shark finally sealing the deal. The list goes on and on.

 

That being said, my favorite era is the current era. The fields are super deep all over the world. The big stars are likable and the TV coverage is amazing. I enjoy everything about the current era.

Golf peaked for me during the square driver era. /s

Mid 90s to early 2000s. Freddie, Davis, and Duval were always my favorites.

I was more of the Couples, Norman era. Norman and Faldo were my favorite players along with Couples. I never got the Jack, Arnie hype, only because I never saw them in their prime. They were basically both done by the time I started really following the tour. When Jack won the 86 Masters I never really got the impact of that win until years later.

I think I like it now the best. Their are so many good talented young players. More than ever. The top players in the late 80's and early 90's were always on top it seemed. Didn't have many guys break trough or challenge these guys. Now even the top players do not dominate all the time.

I'm glad I got to see Tiger's whole career. I'll never most likely ever see that again.

right now. We got guys in their teens through their fifties playing high level golf. We got protracer and trackman and HD and friggin DRONES. And if that wasn't enough Callaway just lost their friggin minds and put THREE additional colored lines on their golf balls. We're living in the future

When i was in HS and started to fall in love with the game Tiger and Fred Couples were the two biggest superstars, imagine Golf Digest, baggy pants, mallet putters as all being the range. It all peaked leading up to tiger's 2008 US open win.

There are only two eras of golf. BJD and AJD. Before John Daly and After John Daly. BJD is also known as the dark ages. /s
