Almost Golf foam practice balls - our of business?

Hey everyone, long time no post! Apologies if this has been brought up before or if I am in the wrong section, but since we are all confined to our homes and not able to do much, I figured I’d grab a bunch of almost golf golf balls for my newish backyard, as well as a cheap net off amazon. To my surprise, the only ones on there were selling for a crazy high amount, and the website, while still up, spits out an error code when you go to purchase. Are they out of business? And if so, more importantly, are there any good alternatives? My experience in the past was that these balls were the only foam balls I could find that replicated a golf balls feel and flight accurately, and I trusted them implicitly.

I ran into the same thing as I've used Almost Golf balls in the past and really like them. I bought these instead and they are similar and pretty close, but not quite as good in my opinion.

Man, I loved Almost golf balls. Good flight and were durable too.

@Fireballer they were! When I was in college I would hit them all around my parents backyard, as well as my neighbors. Sure they loved that.

I’ve found Birdie Balls to be a good alternative.

As a joke this past Christmas Santa brought me a pack of "flat-balls", poker chip look but a tad size larger. Great for short game practice. Been knocking them all over the house - really fun. Just passing this along, it's just more about being able to swing inside and watch them fly all over, minimal damage incurred.

Glad I came across this thread. I looked at the balls @Stiff recommended this morning. I wasn’t sure how they would be so I just kept scrolling. After reading this I’ve got some on the way.

Only problem with birdie balls is that they can break a window....unfortunately I know.

Same. I have done it before with a shed. Not the worst thing to break but also enough of an issue that I’d like to not repeat. Otherwise I agree they’re a nice alternative.

Interesting... I bought a couple dozen Almost Golf balls on ebay about a year ago and love hitting them in my neighborhood park. Thankfully I have enough to hold me for a while as long as I don't hit them into the neighbors yards or lose them in the grass.

I have played the Almost Golf balls and were pretty good but you cant find them. I have found that these Jugs mini balls go just as far and are a blast to play with. Full driver with 112mph club head speed only goes 80 yards.

I got the golf balls in Wednesday. I’ve hit them into my net and like them. They feel better off the club than the just foam balls. I haven’t hit them in the open to see how they mimic real ball flights.

I bought a pack before the lockdown.

Worked out at about a dollar a ball then but I suspect supply and demand has pushed them up.

They probably last about a week of constant ball bashing I think, I am hitting a lot of balls during lockdown though.

I wonder how easy it is to DIY them as they feel like a urethane foam, I guess as its Dave pelz invention I expect its got some secret sauce in them and of course they had a perfect mould.

I think compound + mold is the key. I regret hitting so many into the woods behind my parents house now lol. Probably could find at least 60 or 70 of them scattered about.

I am starting to lose these Almost golf balls in my garage - sad to see if they are out of business if I run out. Been hitting them in a curtain in front of my garage. Great balls.

I found a 10 pack for a decent price yesterday eBay and snatched them up. Extremely glad, probably buying a net and mat later in the week.

My supply of Almost balls was getting pretty scruffy. I tried buying some and like you found them a bit scarce and pricey. I found some gosports foam flight balls and bought 2 24 packs of white ones. They are close to the almost golf balls and work fine for outdoor limited flight practice. Since I bought them I have searched for more and found them sold out. Here's a link. i used to love these things a couple years ago. They are great for a back yard. Give real ball flight without the annoying broken windows and injured passerby’s. Sucks they went out of biz.
