Would you wear a mask in order to play?

I'm reading there are courses mandating that players wear face masks while playing golf just like any other activity out of the home. I'm not sure I could do that or maybe I'd get used to it. How about you?

I would not.

While I can easily adapt to a “walking only” environment, there’s just too much weirdness otherwise involved in this whole thing. Walking is normal to golf. Hiding behind a mask in fresh, open air is not. Life is weird enough now, without golf being weird too.

How is this not a serious question?

Sure, why not?

I wear a base layer, sweater and even a rain suit when they’re necessary. I can’t imagine a mask being any more restrictive than all my cold weather gear.

Edit: Come to think of it, my wife spends her 10 hour shifts in the hospital wearing a full hood with a respirator. The respirator makes her eyes so dry it hurts to blink, but she continues on. If she can do that while intubating her patients, I can wear a cloth mask to go play a game.

I would if I had to, but they are HOT.....and claustrophobic. We have a few grocery stores where I live that require masks be worn. I feel like I'm being suffocated by the time I get back outside.

I will wear a mask but it MUST be tour issue otherwise I fear my cap will go up and people will think less of me.

I've worn neck/face buffs for fishing and golf in hot, sunny conditions. If required I'd do it.

My wife works in the hospital and I don't want to be a vector to others if I don't have symptoms.

This is in the middle of a 40 mile bike ride yesterday. If I could do that I imagine I could play a round of golf with it too. There are too many unknowns about this virus right now and if my wearing a mask might prevent somebody else from getting it then I'll do it. I'm guessing it will be required when I go back to work anyway so I might as well get used to it.

40 miles, nice. I just picked up cycling during the summer and a 40 mile ride is something I aspire to do one day.

 

I don’t wear a mask during my rides, I can maintain enough distance, but I compliment you on that. I definitely “mask up” in the store or if I’ll be near people.

 

For golf, it shouldn’t be necessary out in the course but each person should do what is prescribed and what they feel is needed to protect themselves and their partners.

I would if it was the only way to play. But why would a mask be required in any open space like a golf course? That makes no sense to me given what I've read about the dissipation of a cough/sneeze/breathing while walking outside. If someone wants to wear one to feel protected that's fine with me.

Well, it’s more you wear it so you don’t spread it if you have it. Since it spreads easily even if you don’t have symptoms. You wear the mask to *not infect other people.

 

But I agree that on a golf course, you can stay far enough apart that it shouldn’t be necessary.

When I did use my bike, that was a must at dusk. If only to keep the bugs out.

I wear a mask and latex gloves to run errands. I would also wear a mask at the range, but would go with the cyclist protection on the course...Minus the helmet...

Bought a new hybrid bike six weeks ago at Costco. Haven't been on a bike in 30 years. Although I thief proofed it, I have to admit I had forgotten about the scarf. Thx for reminding me.
