Cobra King Utility iron

I hit a few balls with the new cobra utility iron the other day at a local demo. I only tried the std project x catalyst and in one length but damn it felt good!!!

Is just me or is there zero info on it available so far?

Going through a shorter shafted long iron experiment right now and I can definately see myself bag one of these.

I have the original chrome utility. It has been one of my fav clubs since I got it. I would love to know other than cosmetics, what has changed.. Interestingly, it is not even on their site yet..

I've gamed the original chrome since it came out, automatic off the tee and better off the deck than any hybrid for me. Perfect transition club for me from 3w to 1-degree strong 5 iron.

Ready to try this club! Have enjoyed Srixon utility, but preferred u65 over u85 due to shaft preference that launched higher with 65. I really want to try this club as soon as it is available.

I have picked up one of these now. A used one in mint condition. Recieved it today. Got nervous when I saw the package. Why use a box!? ?

Anyway. Club is in good condition. 3 iron 19.5 degrees with stock Project X Catalyst 80g 6.0.

Very strange that It's being sold in Sweden now but nowhere else!? First time for everything I guess...

Really strange. Recently pulled the trigger on forged tec one length irons (the new ones from November that look like that new utility), and figured I could get a utility to match the look, in one length too, since the black forged tec was available in one length. Couldn't find it anywhere obviously, so I just bought the black forged tec one length utility which I heard great things about.

Agree with @TheMoneyShot would love to hear your thoughts on the club, and how the Catalyst shaft plays/swing weights. Contemplating an SZ 4 iron with the same shaft but can't test.

Got in a late evening range session today and it felt promising. ?

First, I have been through my fair share of utility irons the last few years. Like a couple of TaylorMade UDI, Titleist T-MB, Honma TW-U, Titleist U500 and Ping i500 3 iron (if that counts?).

Not playing much nowadays and cannot say I'm currently playing at my hcp @ 0. Swing feels a bit off and ballstriking not at all to my satisfaction at the moment. Driver speed normally around 110 and in my more active days a solid iron game was definately my strength.

First impression of the new Cobra utility iron below. Sorry for the bad english ?

As previously stated. I have the 3 iron @ 19.5 degrees with Project X Catalyst 6.0 shaft.

Looks: A nice looking head. I would say rather compact. (I could be influenced by carrying a i500 3 iron lately.) Top line maybe slightly thicker than the normal Forged Tec iron (side by side picture below, utility vs a 5 iron). You can see a bit of the back side of the head even if it's not huge or annoying in my opinion. There are certainly other utility irons with thinner top line out there. The head is framing the ball very nicely.

Feel & sound: if you like the Forged Tec iron you will definately like the feel and sound of this one as well. It feels powerful. The ball just takes off! Feels like it provides a good amount of forgiveness and you must hit it rather poorly before getting that firm feeling in your hands. The shaft is probably contributing here as well.... Speaking of the shaft, the club certainly felt light to me and I'm not really used with a 80 gram shaft in a long/utility iron. Swing weight @ allmost D0. I will most likely tinker a bit here going forward. (I'm actually experimenting with a Catalyst 6.5 100g shaft in a 5 iron at the moment and It would be interesting to try that out in a utility iron as well ?).

Performance: I need to get out on the course here and also validate on trackman. Today I hit it in the std setting of 19,5 degrees and I would guess I will see around 200m carry on trackman on good hits. I definately hit this one higher than I normally hit a long iron. Actually very easy to get airborne. I hit a few with ball position more to my right foot as well and had no issues with getting down the flight if I wanted. As for forgiveness I believe in this club. More testing needed..... ?

I'd have to see it side by side with the older utility, which I have.

The one thing I don't like about the current utility is that it's a wider sole than I prefer.

If you like the wide sole of the utility you'll probably like it.

I actually just ordered a Forged Tec 3i since it has a narrower sole than both the old and new utility.
