Bridgestone Golf Tour B 2020 Lineup

Has anybody compared the 2020 BX to the 2020 AVX? I really like the AVX due to the low launch and spin characteristics. Played the Snell MTB Black last year but switched irons this year and which launch much higher (too high IMO) so the Snell is getting crushed in the wind. AVX is the only ball I’ve found so far that performs great in the wind for me. Thanks!

I plan on doing so the next nice day with good/dry course conditions. I've played both this year, at different times, and they seem to give me similar results.

For those who’ve tested or game the 2020 BX and BXS, would you please share some feedback on their durability? How easy are they to cut with full and partial wedge shots into greens?

Durability is great on all the balls. After multiple holes and bunker shots I didnt see any if at all markings on the covers when I tested the B XS and RX

Can someone help me out! I currently play the Pro V1x. Am a high spin player. I'm not a super long hitter either. Used to play TP5x but was just to low spin around the greens. I like the V1x but don't feel it is as long as the TP5x. I want a ball to bring down my flight but also keep the distance. Sort of like the AVX but again green side spin is the issue.

2019 BX- loved it. This was my favorite Tour ball. Controlled spin, rarely backed up wedges (which is a good thing for me). Consistent around green. Longer than ZStar and V1x for me. Plus, when you putt using the "tour BX" print line, a perfect stroke looks bad-ass as the B logo just looks like a solid black dot from the side as the ball rolls.?

2020 BX- felt softer. But I definitely lose 1/2 club or more into the wind vs'19 model. Tested head to head, '19 model consistently outperformed the newest model for me.

Mmm... I'm 70 years old. Swing speed considerably less than 105. The last time on a monitor a few years ago I think it was around 88. Average total drive 230-240ish. I tried the 2020 B RSX and found it to be ok but I didn't like it as well as the current ProV1 or the old B XS. I played the 2020 B XS my last round and liked it better than ProV1 and much better than the B RXS. I left with more money than I came with so it worked pretty good for me. I loved it off the tee, second shots, around the green and putting.

I think it’s the most durable urethane cover I’ve ever played. I also think inside 80yds it spins more than anything on the market.

I've had plenty of time on my hands through "lockdown" over here in Aus and a golf course round the corner from my house so I've taken the opportunity to do a fair amount of testing on the 2020 line.

Now I'm no where near being a particularly good golfer, playing off 16 so some differences could definitely be put down to the Indian rather than the arrow

The first ball I could rule out for me was the X. Felt like a rock and I just couldn't get along with it at all and unfortunately my swing speed is nowhere near fast enough to harness the potential of the ball.

In comparison the XS was much more friendly in terms of feel and performance wise was much more controllable and responded well when I put a good strike on it. Out of all 4 it probably felt the best off the tee for me.

Now to the two that were probably always going to be more in my wheel house.

I'll start off by saying I wasn't a huge fan of the feel of either of them off of the tee. Even when struck well they always felt like I hadn't quite got them, but both would routinely carry 10-15m further than I would have thought after I'd hit them. The rx probably marginally longer as would be expected.

Fairly similar performance on full shots into the green. The greens at my local course are fairly receptive anyway so stopping power isn't normally an issue.

Short game is where I noticed the biggest difference. The rxs had much more stopping power on mid range pitches and short chips compared to the rx and felt noticeably better off of the putter

Overall comparing all 4 they match up well with how they're classified by Bridgestone so no real surprises, but if I had to rank them in terms of overall performance and feel for me it would be:

RXS - clear winner all things considered. Good control around the green and not giving up much distance on the others in the end. Feels a bit dead off the driver though.

RX - Not a great feel off the tee but good results, long, lowish spin helped keep it a bit straighter.

On average I was 3-5 shots better per round with the rx and rxs compared to the others

XS - probably felt the best out of all 4 and very rewarding on the days I was capable of putting a good strike on it. Definitely on the list if I out grow the rxs

X just did not get along with it at all, felt like a rock and couldn't get along with the lower spin around the greens

One concern I've had with all 4 of these balls is the cover durability. As someone who generally plays a ball for multiple rounds as long as they don't disappear in the trees or go for a swim, I've found they reach a certain point then all of sudden start scuffing up really quickly.

Same with dirt marks as well. They seem to stay clean for a few holes even with a few trips into bunkers, bare patches or rough but once they actually pick up some dirt you're cleaning big chunks of dirt off every hole... First world problems I know ?

Anyway that's my wrap on these balls from a decidedly average golfer.

Cheers

Count me as a convert to the Tour Bx from the Pro v1x.

Even though i don't have the recommended swing speed i have hit some of my longest drives in a while over the last four rounds i've used the ball.

I also like the way it performs in the wind, no ballooning for me.

Just put in an order for the 4/3 special.

Try the Tour B ball. Def lower spin off driver and irons, but softer cover has more spin around the greens. Also has the more durable urethane cover in golf imho.

Any low cap guys compare last years X and XS to the 2020? Any significant change? I'm on my last box and play the XS. Did a lot of testing last year to choose the XS. It was lower spin on irons, more accurate off irons and driver...easy choice.

Would love a firmer feel off the putter but won't give up how controllable the XS is.

Interested in switching to either the BX or BXS. Currently I play the TP5X but don't love the lack of spin around the greens. I'm about 112-115 mph with driver for refrence. I've played the BX a few times, but didn't love the excessive height on my drives. Do you think that the BXS will launch a fraction lower in addition to the additional spin around the greens?

You’ll really like the new Tour B X. It’s softer than last years model, but firmer than the XS. Much more spin around the greens on the new ball.

Huge fan of the '18 Tour BX, just ordered a dozen of the 2020 version to try out. The greens are starting to get quick so it should be a good time to compare greenside spin.

I've played two rounds with it so far, and it's pretty nice indeed. I think it spins a little more greenside and mid to short irons appear to bit really well. Off the driver, the 2020 feels a little bit softer and IMO it launches slightly higher. Both balls hold their line very well in wind but I think the 2020 might carry a few yards more off the driver.

I prefer the alignment aid on the previous version though, but a black Sharpie fixes that.

Definitely softer overall, in terms of sound. I think that’s more the cover of the ball than the core because of how it performs. But off the putter it’s noticeable.

i can’t say much about wedge play because I switched to the 2020 at the same time as going from MD Forged wedges to Vokeys.

I bought the BX and BXS to try out on my launch monitor. My main concern was short game spin possibly being too low on the BX, so I collected a good sample of data from both balls on a 15 yard chip and a 75 yard pitch shot. They were much closer than I expected with the BXS spinning about 5% more on the 15 yard chip, which I don't think you would ever notice playing, and they were essentially the same from 75 yards. I liked the feel of the BX better so took it out and played with it, and am likely going to switch to it. I had one of the best driving days I have ever had with it.
