Mizuno MP 20 or Titleist 620 MB

A couple more questions, I really appreciate it!

As someone who's more of a sweeper and takes some divot but not a massive one, would it be more likely that I prefer something like the Apex or Titleist with that increased bounce or the other way around? Or is something like that more user preference with respect to feel? I definitely have a more mid to mid-high ball flight for reference, but even with a towering flight I hit my 7 iron about 180 yards (I'm a 25 year old with an athletic build). Also, will I see the effect stuff like that has when swinging with a Trackman during the fitting? When you say that the MP20 and 620 MB fly higher, why would that be other than differences in loft (if there's a simple way to explain that lol)? Doesn't shaft play a major role in how high the spin numbers/flight will be?Sorry if the questions seem elementary, I don't have the best understanding of everything differentiating irons in general and am trying to learn more! This is gonna be my first fitting; in the past, I found my clubs for cheaper on eBay and didn't really have the money/awareness for a formal fitting. I'm sure my fitter will be able to explain a lot of this to me but I'd like to go in with a little bit of understanding since this'll be a big purchase. Really hoping these irons are gonna last me a long time!

I would definitely recommend fitting outdoors or at least testing all models outdoors off real grass prior to purchase. You may find the turf interaction make or break. I can't say that the higher bounce will necessarily be better or worse, but of the 3 I found the Mizuno most prone to digging. The Apex are the most forgiving in this sense they have surprisingly high bounce. The Wilson are probably next easiest in that sense then Titleist and finally Mizuno. Test off ground if you can. You might like more camber/lower bounce or you might like the higher bounce. I play Srixon 745 right now which have a pretty wide some and one of the more aggressive sole designs out there and given my miss is on the thinner side and my AoA isn't super steep, I like that I can really try to compress the ball and hit down through the ball without worrying about digging a trench. When I had Mp20 I felt like I had to pick it more. You may see the effects on trackman. If for instance you're getting strikes higher on the face and the spin is dropping off, there could be a lack of bounce. You might find the higher bounce or more camber will lead to a better strike point and therefore more consistent launch and spin. Can't really say why those heads tend to spin more. It's a bit strange but in my testing they were around 500rpm more at the same loft. Titleist always spins the most for me. Could be CG or sole grind. You can adjust this stuff with ball though. For reference my 7 iron carry is 175 and I swing it around 93-95mph. Also 29 and athletic so similar profile.

Just thought I'd give my update! I got fit (was able to do indoor and outdoor) and (spoiler alert) the biggest thing was the shaft. I've been playing with x100 my whole life thinking they were great for me. My dispersion was pretty bad with my clubs on the monitor. Fitter explained why it looked like the x100 was too heavy for me. He put me into a few different lighter shafts. Finally put me into the Nippon Modus 3 Tour 105x with the mp20 head and...wow. It's never been so easy and natural to swing. I thought I'd experienced the buttery feel we all talk about, but I realized after that first swing that this was the first time I'd actually ever experienced it. Added 10 yards to my swing when going 85% and my dispersion after 10 shots was 4 yds left 3 yds right. I was in shock. Numbers were all incredible. Then he threw in the other 2 heads (620 mb and Apex) and feel wise, I didn't notice any difference. All three were incredibly smooth and buttery without feeling mushy. Difference in numbers was negligible for me as well.
I ended up going with the 620 mb. The look at address and the look in the bag just won over the other two for me. They also felt incredibly soft while sounding incredible at contact. I couldn't handle the chrome look of the MP20 as much as I wanted to. It was distracting for me. And I didn't like the shape or badging of the apex. They're coming in about 2 weeks! I cannot wait to get them out on the course. @TigerInTheWoods I appreciate the recommendations! Have a good one y'all!

Great to hear man. The right shaft does wonders for dispersion. For me, that’s the X100. I tried LZ 6.5 for a few rounds and was playing the par 3s terribly. Went back to my trust 745s with TI X100 and shot +1 for the first time. Hit 4/5 GIR on the par 3s with no more than a 10 foot putt.

stoked you found some irons you love! That’s one of the few light shafts I like. Nippon makes a great product.

This past Wednesday I ordered a set of 620 MBs with PX 6.0 shafts 3-PW. My first ever set of true blades. I'm scared yet excited at the same time. My ball striking is the best it's ever been. Time to see what all the fuss is about!
