PXG offering heroes program to all! Sale Extended Thru May. (MERGED)

First of all I should say I'm not one of those anti PXG guys or haters, I've owned their equipment, so I really have no skin in the game etc. Also I really don't care what people spend their money on.....after all its their money not mine!

I have somewhat of a handle on the luxury goods market as I'm a watch guy and that market has been insane for the last few years. I would, say PXG started to change their ways slightly with the introduction of the 0211 irons. In my opinion they went away from their initial mindset of the highest quality products at the highest price and we don't care what our competitors do. If I remember correctly they didn't want to be in that market. The 0211 is a change in their original strategy, now everyone has their choice between PXG, PING, Titleist etc.

I don't know of PXG was profitable or not prior to them introducing 0211 or with them selling older models at discounted prices but they're doing it for a reason and I don't think its to be generous ( Hero Program aside ) Someone on this forum said they had their best sales month ever in April and I would guess its because their products are now priced accordingly. It would be telling to know what % of monthly sales were current Gen 3 irons, I'm thinking very little based on WRX threads. Selling more product direct to consumer is definitely going to help their bottom line as well.

Following the brands direction over the next few years will be interesting.

Love the healthy discussions and hope everyone and their families continues to stay healthy!

Here’s an example using myself: I would have never bought PXG equipment because it wasn’t a good value (in my opinion) when compared to the top offerings from the other major brands. However, because of this promotion on the Gen 2 0311 irons and Gen 2 woods/putters, I now have 12 PXG clubs in my bag at what I perceive to be a good value.

I think a good watch analogy to the 0211 might be the Pelagos. Why does it exist? It serves a different buyer, increases the their overall market share of divers, and creates an entry level into brand loyalty. No bearing at all to Rolex sales, and everyone who owns one would dump it in a second if they had a chance at a sub.

Apple rolls out cheaper iPhones, a Camry is just a cheaper ES350. None of that indicates a change in fundamental change in the direction of the brands, it just affords a larger following.

same thing with this promo. It’s got people into the clubs that never would have before, and for the ones who previously have, it’s got them upgrading or filling out the rest of their bags with PXG clubs.

Very good analogy, and very good points. BTW - Pelagos is a beauty!

I do agree Bob or his team realized that they needed to add a lower price point product to get more brand exposure ( as you mentioned before ) even though it strayed from their initial strategy. I do think Bob thought it was going to be easier than it has been and had to adjust the business model. Nothing wrong with that, it's whats smart business people do. He was just so loud and proud about being the best and the most expensive, thats what a lot of us remember or at least I do.

The great the great thing about these discussions is it makes you think about other brands and different levels. The one thing that a lot of them have in common is the different levels have different names. Toyota/Lexus, Honda/Acura, Cleveland/XXIO, Rolex/Tudor, the list goes on. Likely too early for PXG to add a sub brand and introducing the 0211 along with discounts may turn some off the previous status buyers. To your point of the Camry/Lexus example a lot of people want the Lexus label and pay extra for it.

As I say it will be interesting to see how this unfolds. Maybe Bob likes Mercedes and he could be following that model. As we know they have added many lower price points in the last 5-7 years and we do see a lot more Mercedes on the roads. It's definitely working for them.

Anyhow, glad to see people buying clubs and getting out to play after this pandemic.

This is me also. As I am aging things hurt more and I had shoulder surgery on the right side. I got fitted to the Steelfiber I95 and decided to order the Gen2 0311p irons with the discount . I liked them so much I just ordered the Proto Gen3 Xf driver today. If I had to pay full retail I may still be playing Callaway off the rack.

For anyone mindful of order times--my order from 4/16 for a set of Gen2 irons is shipping today from PXG. In my case, to DD, and then from DD to me (which I will have in hand likely mid next week). So overall, I'd say about 3-4 weeks from ordering to delivery right now. Really enjoying the 0211 irons, so hoping the 0311 irons (with SF 95) are on point as well.

No shipping notification when it goes from PXG to DD. For that, I have been checking online order status with PXG. My order had not budged from 4/16 until this Monday, when it moved to Items Picked/In Assembly. From there, it is shipping today, so about two days to build and finish up. There will be an email notice from DD when it ships out via Fed Ex (I have some PXG wedges arriving tomorrow from DD, so that is how it worked with that order). Not sure, but I can tell you tomorrow when my 0311 wedges arrive from DD (unless someone confirms before then).

Thank you. Wedges are very personal and fickle, and I admittedly ordered these without demoing. If they don’t do what I need them to do, then they won’t replace my Mizuno S18 wedges. I hoped to have the 0311 wedges in hand for my round this morning, but they arrived this afternoon, so no go. Hope to debut them over the weekend.

Still really enjoying the 0211 irons. They have been fun and impressive in their first few rounds. Excellent turf interaction. Good off the tee on par 3s. Very solid and reliable out of the rough, which is a big test for me (often thick and wet NJ rough). I actually took out a different set of irons today, and found myself missing the look, feel and performance of the 0211s. As of now, they are in the driver’s seat for my bag this season. Big m_onkey-wrench in that plan could be the set of Gen2 irons I have on the way. First world problems.

Nice to hear! If you have time someday could you please post some pictures from address? I’d love to see the top line and the length of the blade. I’m really not a fan of long blades.

Cost. Free shipping. Excellent customer service over many, many orders. Great guys to work with. Supporting a site sponsor.

Win win situation all around.

I picked up a gen 2 driver, looks like there are slight delays but hoping to have it in a couple weeks.

I took a crack this morning at some photos of some 7 irons. From left to right (and top to bottom), these are 0211, J15CB, ie1 and Rogue Pro. Inevitably, this won’t show the exact scales and such, but maybe this will be of some use. For example, the Rogue Pros are the smallest iron (as does show pretty accurately in the fourth photo), but the Rogue Pro looks large in some of the photos. Top lines vary (I think thinnest in the J15 CB). Blade-size, I’d say 0211 and ie1 are most similar and largest, then J15 CB, then Rogue Pro. The single shot at address is the 0211 obviously. Anyway, this might be of some use (and maybe not...).

I've never had even the slightest issue getting service from DD. I had trouble once with a (known) issue with a Bushnell range finder. They cross shipped me a brand new one, overnight shipping, without even waiting for mine to get back. I come across/deal with a ton of different companies on here, from the biggest to the smallest, but these guys are ones I would not hesitate to do business with.

And to answer a PM I got - I am not pimping for them, I pay full price and get absolutely no discount that is not available to the general public.
