I have Skytrak and have practiced using gc quad (and voice caddy - so 3 different devices at 3 different price points). No question gc quad is superior. Club data is great. But at the price, Skytrak is awesome and gets my vote.

I mean, are we putting TrackMan 4 for $25k in the same category as Mevo for $500?

Because if we are talking accuracy and features and software and support, without regard to price ... it’s TrackMan all day every day. It’s the gold standard.

 

But if we are factoring in price for the Average Joe, I’ll throw Mevo+ into the mix. I’ve been very happy with mine so far.

Foresight GCQ+HMT

 

Trackman may be the most well know, but that does not mean it is the best. Especially if you use it indoors. In head to head test they came out very very equal in terms of accuracy outdoors. But Foresight win on versatility.

That plus the fact that you can play sim golf on gc2 and putt+chip. Trackman is not very accurate with short chips and putting.

Without considering cost I would say:

Trackman4 or Flightscope X3 for outdoor use

GC Quad for indoor use.

Both of those are more commercially used options though. Way too expensive for your average golfer.

Best value would be Mevo+. Recreational golf enthusiasts will pay $2k for a decent launch monitor that can also do simulation as Skytrak has proven. I have to give the edge to Flightscope Mevo+. It's by far the best value with the added benefit of right/left hand ease of operation.

I really think Trackman & Foresight are missing an opportunity that Flightscope has seized on. Mevo & now Mevo+ are good affordable launch monitors that compare very well to the high end units. Lets face it we would all like to afford a Trackman or a GC Quad but at $10-$20k for personal use it does not make sense. Trackman & Foresight seem to be content to cater to high end business commercial model while Flightscope realized there was a big market for personal launch monitors. I think as the tech moves forward we are seeing more options just as good as Trackman or GC Quad at a fraction of the cost. Well done by Flightscope for recognizing the need of a personal affordable launch monitor that also carries the cache of the Flightscope branding.

Gee, should I vote for the launch monitor that costs as much as my car or the one whose price tag I can actually justify?

In the cheapest category I'm going with PRGR Red. $92 shipped. You get doppler radar CHS/Ballspeed and it calculates smash factor for you. It claims carry distance with estimated spin and launch that I pretty much ignore.

You just have do do your own evaluation of ball flight/distance. If I hit out of the middle distance seems pretty accurate. I think the CHS and smash factor are helpful. Plenty useful for the speed training that I should be doing.

You just have to translate the Japanese manual but operation is simple.

Depends on budget really. Skytrak is phenomenal and works As good or better than trackman indoors . A step up is the GCquad. The Uneekor That Just came out looks great alsl

I went with the GC Quad

The main reason I went the direction I did was because I wanted to get information by hitting premium golf balls. Since there are no driving ranges in my area that provides nice balls to be hit, that meant a driving net would prove to be valuable. Because radar based tech didn't seem to me to be as accurate as camera based when using the limited flight distance of a net, that was the second factor in going GCQ,

I also want to be able to take the device on the course and for it to be easily setup and read data. Again, the GCQ looks to be easier to accomplish this requirement.

Since I also give lessons, the putting module on the GCQ was attractive in providing metrics for the flat stick.

I also like that there are no annual fees with the GCQ. I didn't want to pay a subscription in order to use hardware I paid good money for. I have enough subscriptions as it is nickel and dime-ing me to being broke.

These are my reasons and I am sure your requirements will be different than mine, but I just wanted to let you know my rationalization for going the direction I did.

Surprised no one has mentioned the Flightscope Xi Tour. Best value to get both complete ball and club data.

I have Voice Caddie SC300 and it provides me all the data I need as an amateur golfer. I'm mainly looking at ball speed/carry distance/launch angle/spin rates and it gives me all that. It's $500 and they have cheaper options as well.
