PXG 0211 irons - what do you think?

Are the stock grips on these irons really that bad? They seem to have garnered a lot of negative evaluations and not very many supportive comments in this thread. Can a case be made for going with them as opposed to having the PXG builders not install them?

Maybe it's just because I am not that fussy when it comes to grips, but honestly to me, they are not that bad per my little use so far. I kind of figure if they wear out quickly, I will just replace them when they do with something more to my liking.

Dang, this thread got me! I just ordered 5-L, with shipping and tax I’m in right at a grand $. Got them in the Elevate 95 R shafts. Was told 3-4 weeks, the wait begins.

The stock grip is the non-corded Lamkin Z5. It definitely has a different feel than a Crossline or Tour Velvet but it certainly isn’t a “bad” grip. Not sure why everyone is hating on it so much. Also, when I ordered mine, I believe there were a few no charge options but that probably changed with the price drop.

I’m fussy with grips and actually like them. Did an extra wrap of tape on the lower half to take some taper out and the feel is good.

Some say they slick up easily and wear fast but that’s a relative thing to grip pressure, maintenance, and environment. Hard to be objective.

Ive got no problemo with em.

If they are BO. I might just end up going with a Gen2 combo of XF and P though. Went through some fitting options with the rep.

Spoke with Kim today and she thought my order may not have been affected by the back order but couldn’t guarantee it. Regardless, my estimated start date was going to be pushed further a few weeks.

She said I would actually get a Gen 2 build faster based on pending availability so I went with Gen 2 0311 XF in 5-G.

Thanks, he told me the same thing yesterday about the Gen 2. I've had them sitting in my cart all day. If I hadn't ordered the Forged Tec on Friday, they'd be ordered. But not sure I want to deal with trying to learn two new sets of irons at the same time. But I can think of worst problems to have :)

They aren’t a bad grip, depends on where you play. When i lived in North Texas where it’s hot but not very humid I had no problem with them, here in Florida with high humidity they don’t hold up well for 7 - 8 months a year

If I ever receive my Gen2 irons, I can tell you some of the differences between the Gen2 XF and the 0211. I ordered SGI 5-6, and XF 7-GW, with SF 95. Debated going all XF, or P in the short irons/wedges, but I am not one to turn my nose up at more forgiveness. We shall see.

Placed my order on 4/16, and the irons haven't even arrived at DD yet. Then they need to make their way to me. Was hoping to have them in hand this week, but not so sure now. The 0211 have been great so far.

The Gen2 set I have in a cart is 5-7 XF an d 8-W in P Based on my conversation with the rep on the sole designs and size that combo would be pretty similar to what I have in the T300.

When I was doing my fitting, I really want to like the Gen 2 but 0211 just has better number and looked better at address.

I’ve had the club building/tinkering itch (I used to be a repair tech and fitter in college) and just picked up a swingweight scale from Facebook Marketplace. It’ll be here Thursday so I’ll swingweight my clubs and report back. More than likely I’ll blow the grips off, cut clubs to standard and regrip/swingweight.

If nothing else, it’ll be interesting to see how close these came out to spec from PXG.

Curious how you that ordered online decide on swing weight? Did you just go with their standard or ask to replicate your current irons?

I just called about my order.

Irons were ordered 4/25.

I was told my set should start building either the end of this week or middle of next week.

I asked about the back order, and was told that he couldn't tell if any of my heads were back ordered.

He also said it shouldn't delay the delivery, becuase the back ordered club heads should be in soon.

Also called about my order which was placed on 4/22. 0211 5i-SW with Elevate shafts and MCC grips. The website says build was estimated on 5/8, which appeared on 5/6. The site hasn't updated since. The gentleman on the phone was a bit cryptic and didn't answer when I can expect the clubs to be built. I just got the standard 3-4 weeks and he wouldn't confirm if that was from today or order date. I thought I overheard him say May 25th when talking to a coworker. But who knows...

Just curious is your home course Victory Links?

I had the unlimited pass at The Ponds the past two years but before that played almost exclusively at Victory. So, the answer to your question is “yes” Victory will be my home course this weird season. I live across the street from the TPC and can see that membership in my future once both daughters are in school.

I don’t think anyone knows...I was told my build start date would be pushed back at least a week or possibly much longer. They have so many builds in the queue and they’re restricted to the number of people that can be in the building area. Even with 7 days a week and three shifts a day they are inundated with the price drop orders.

i will say they told me the gen2s would ship sooner than 0211s...

My home course is the links at Northfork. I do play victory a few times a year.
