Reminds me of grade school when the kid who couldn't have the Nike Air's would call them ugly and silly until a pair was given to him, they were the best since lol

Ironically, with the price being lowered, the hipster crowd will now feel that the PXG quality has been compromised and begin to drift from the brand. The original PXG business model will be tossed aside when consumers can no longer purchase the "perceived value" of these clubs. (Placebo)

What “value” set of irons do you play? Nickent or Northwestern?

I’ve had the Gen 1 0311T’s for almost 2 years. With the Hero’s pricing I paid $127 per club - cheaper than just about every other OEM.

They are some of my favorite irons out of all I’ve tried. They are like TM’s P790’s - some of the most popular irons in recent history, but in a smaller profile head with less offset.

I paid $2300 for the full bag of 14 clubs with Tour Issue X100 iron shafts, and the PX Handcrafted wood shafts.

I did not care for the putter, wedges, or driver. They’ve all since been replaced. The wedges were fine, but the reasonable priced options have limited bounce/grind options. The driver produced too much spin even at 7* for me. And the putter was okay, just not as good for me as the TM Spider tour so I switched back to a Spider.

The 0341X 3 wood is comparable to any other low spin 3 wood head I’ve tried. All the OEM low spin 3 wood options seem very similar to me in testing/fittings.

I have never paid much attention to the brands in people's bags, other than I might see the company head cover on a driver. However, three years ago I was playing in a one day member guest event at a buddies course and while on the putting and then chipping green I saw a guy decked out in TM clothes, but the TM clothes wasn't what I noticed. It was the glint off of his huge diamond encrusted Rolex that made me notice. He had a balky stroke and flubbed most of his chips. I made an off-hand comment to my buddy that I hoped we played his team. He had a PXG putter and wedges to match the hideous Rolex.

Fast forward to the shotgun start, and low an behold who pulls up to the tee to play with us? Yep, Mr. Rolex. Well I was talking to the other member of the "team" at the back of our cart. People were having trouble getting around their cart, so Mr. PXG went to move it. As he did, coming down the hill instead of hitting the brakes, he hit the gas and ran the cart up onto his partner, pushed me up onto the hill. Craziest thing I have ever seen. We got the cart off of his buddy, an ambulance was called. He separated his shoulder, tore his rotator cuff and and broke his arm. I have never heard on seen anything like this story.

I say all this because, I have discovered through a round over the last two+ years that I have played with numerous people playing PXG's, and only one of them was a super douche. The rest were guys just like everyone else on here, looking to buy a golf game instead of investing in lessons. No big deal, who cares what the other guys in your foursome play with? I like to see variety, so I can hit a couple of irons that I might not have tried otherwise.

Yowza, rough story. I was on a golf trip with some buddies at PGA National several years ago, and in our first round out, I was checking my phone while driving the cart, and smashed my cart into the stopped cart in front of me. Fortunately, my buddies were on the side of the cart, not the back of the cart, or else we would all be telling a different story today... Anyway, I was probably playing Ping at the time, and I think I was just a moron, not a douche, lol. And yet, now I am playing PXG's, and still not a douche. It's like the world has come full circle.

Anyway, this is a bizarre thread. A couple of months ago, I owned no PXG clubs. Now, I am playing their irons and wedges (with another set of Gen2 irons on the way), only because of the discounted prices (especially for lefties). Yes, many people who would not have considered PXG previously, will now be buying and owning PXG clubs. Big deal. Buy and play what you want--but to piss on PXG owners just for the heck of it is just a weird flex. YMMV.

I've spent more money on lessons this winter than the PXG irons I have coming. I am a super douche....
