PXG 0211 irons - what do you think?

And meanwhile, my Gen2 irons (ordered on 4/16) shipped to DD on 5/6, but still haven’t arrived at DD (were scheduled for yesterday, but didn’t happen, nor today). I think someone is just playing with me now, lol. Now, it will probably stretch into next week until I have them in hand.

Fortunately, I’ve had the 0211 irons in hand for a couple of weeks. About 10 rounds in with them, and no change in my view. They really are so good. Feel is outstanding for cast irons, turf interaction is great, no issues out of the rough, and they are a great pairing with the Elevate 95 (which have been very easy on my aging joints and golfer’s elbow). Hope you guys get yours soon—I think you’ll find them worth the wait. YMMV.

Don't get your hopes up. I have one order from Apr 27 that was supposed to go into build today, per the order tracking on the site. My first order from Apr 17, shipped today with delivery for this Friday. I called today and was told that lead time is about 4-5 weeks now and that the website is way ahead of actual build dates. I was told they were working on orders from Apr 18 today, with around 1,000 clubs being built per day.

I scored mine off EBay with the same shaft I was fit into at PXG. Even cheaper than a new set from PXG. I got lucky.

Pulled the trigger on the 0211 earlier this week, I’ve been playing z745 for the last 4-5 years.

I haven’t been able to practice as much (even before the pandemic) and decided to try irons with a little more forgiveness. As much as I love my Srixon irons my mishits haven’t been doing my game any favors. I was originally set on going with P790s after having a chance to demo them until I tried the 0211s.

I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a little more forgiveness in a slightly larger player iron. P790 was great but the 0211 checked all the boxes: Great ball speed, consistent distances, and pretty much perfect spin for anyone playing tour caliber golf balls. Too good to pass up at the sale price point.

Ok, back from my fitting. Let me start by saying this, the 0211’s are a fit to my eye. I tend to prefer a longer blade from heel to toe since I’ve been a Ping guy for 20 years. Played eye 2, then i3, then I15, then G25. The feel is much softer than any other cast and “forged” with steel face clubs I’ve hit, like 790, etc. The only forged steel face irons that feel close are 585’s. Anyways, I’ve played Steelfiber i95 for almost 10 years and really like the feel and dispersion of them. I hurt my shoulder over a year ago and have lost some strength and speed so I went in looking for more ball speed, launch, and spin. I tried all the graphite shafts, and there was a clear winner for me. The Steelfiber i70.... Really surprised me. I didn’t even look at what I was hitting when he gave it to me, I just assumed it was the i95 I had been using. Hit a set and the 0211 7 iron was launching higher, (but not ballooning) and definitely carrying about a full club further. So I ask the spin and he told me I was around 6,600rpms which is about 500-600 more revs than my Pings. The launch angle was about 2 degrees higher. And the track man numbers showed it was carrying almost 10yds further with a 3-4 steeper decent angle. So I told him it felt great, obviously performed great. Only then did I look and realize it was the i70 shaft, not the i95. I would of never thought I could control an iron shaft that light. But something about the Steelfiber give me the control of steel but the launch, spin, and distance of graphite! I’m really excited to get them out on the course when they arrive. Could not be happier. Only one negative, as many have said, the stock grip is REALLY bad. Literally had to wipe down the grip after every couple shots. Felt like the club was going to completely slip out of my hands.

Just for reference to all those patiently waiting, I ordered a set of 0211’s (4-G) on 4/19, and was told they went into production this weekend. I guess it’s been established that you shouldn’t believe what the online tracking is telling you, unfortunately.

I look forward to putting them into play and providing some feedback here. Coming from Mizuno blades, I’m expecting something quite different in terms of feel and forgiveness...

I would bet there's no complicated story to it at all. It's more than likely a simple combination of limited crews and supply chain issues which are being additionally impacted by the current status of things. I ordered mine back on 3/23 and this was before they were being hit by so many orders and even then the 4 iron heads were back ordered but thankfully came in during my normal build time. Mine were shipped 8 days later in my hands within 11 days from the date of order. To reiterate what others have said, if you don't mind the wait, they are exceptional clubs at an exceptional price.

I posted this in the other 0211 thread in the Deal or No Deal section but it may be better in here, regarding build times and quality:

I finally got around to checking the specs on my clubs (0311x 4 iron and 0211 5-PW, all MMT 80 stiff +1/2 inch with midsize grips). I was happy to find that every club was the correct length (2 were within 1/16th inch so I’m calling that good) and within 1 swingweight point (only the PW at D2 was “heavier”, which I prefer anyhow). I know there were some initial horror stories about shoddy PXG builds but mine are right on (built last summer).

PXG is a little like Tesla, definitely have their fair share of true believers vs absolute skeptics. Let’s just hope PXG doesn’t fall flat on their face (from a quality perspective) trying to fill these thousands of orders they’re all of a sudden inundated with. I guess on a positive note, the Scottsdale retail center is open again, so in-person pickups should be an option again.

So from what I had read on some PXG Facebook pages theyre like backordered 30,000 sets right now I ordered a set of Gen3 back end of April and was 7 days from when ordered to my door. With them extending the Heroes pricing to everyone they got swamped with orders this month prob also due to Corona checks. I do think its odd they charge your card and then told you have shipping delays. I also ordered a set of Gen2 since I wanted a combo set and in LH they were like $149 a club ordered with DD on April 25 still not biult. What reps have told me is that for the last month theyve had supply issues with shafts especially KBS since they were shut down.

Good for you! I did a similar thing (buying used) last summer when the “deal” from PXG was $150-200(?)/club but they were giving away a free driver and you could add a putter for $95. I picked up my set from a local Craigslist ad for less than $100/Club. These really are great irons, you’re likely going to enjoy them.

I did the same thing. Scored a smoking deal on EBay with Modus 120’s which I was fit for. Aeveral

rounds it and I have dropped a few strokes from my P790’s. Way more consistent distances and better spin into the green.

Want to hear how you like those Sand Wedge and Lob Wedges.

I’ll let you know when I get a chance to hit off grass and bunker play. I just got them today and hit a bucket off mats...they’re longer than my Maltby DBMs by a club at least. Wedges did have good distance control (Choking down, half shots etc) but I didn’t hit any flops or chips around the greens although the grind looks like it would open up just fine.

I will say these clubs feel GREAT, IME better than the i200s and Honma TW X irons I’ve recently gone through...solid thump but with enough feedback to know where you missed it.

I called today to cancel, but didn’t do it.

The nice woman on the phone told me that orders from the week of 4/19 are being built and shipped right now. Just like azfish said.

Mine were ordered 4/25, and she thinks they will be picked and built by the end of next week.

What to do.....

The set I won this weekend will be here on Thursday. I’m playing Saturday, Sunday, Monday, so it will be a good chance to see what they can do.

I may keep my new set, and relist the set I won. PXG did say I have a couple weeks to decide.

Why would you keep a new set when you were able to buy the same thing for $300 less? Although I haven’t tried it yet, I imagine the 0211 head would be an exceptional candidate for a simple Scotchbrite restoration. They’d probably look brand new with very little work and no special skill.

Wedges look pretty good. I’ll be honest I never even considered them, but looks like the S and L have some bounce relief grind in the heel and trailing edge. I would be interested in your feedback on them.
